I am much better today everyone.  Thanks for all the thoughts.  I am at home now...so much better because of that.

I am SO sorry to here about your bite--I got to this late. Having been biten myself, I know how much it sucks, although I didn't have the added stress of threatened vision (just a fainting mother).

Bless you for not only not reprting the bite, but planning on continuing to work with the dog. I'm sure the owners are eternally grateful (at least they better be).

    Sally and I send snuggles!

As far as your scar story goes, I would trade "basset hound" for "puma" and you should be all good!

Mic, I'm just seeing this post now. I am glad that you are doing better and are home. Sorry to hear about it happening.

How is your vision? I have an eye disease and from laser surgery and other issues with that disease, I have blind spots in my eyes. more in my left eye than right. You would be amazed at how your good eye makes up for it! Mine are on my retina in the back of my eye though.

I saw a show not that long ago that they are starting to do cornea transplants on people now, even restored a completely blind man to vision!

    Take care!

Ouch!  My eye hurts just thinkin' about it!!!  I hope you feel better soon.

Mic,  So sorry to hear about the eye - hope it heals well and all goes back to normal.  I had a pencil thrown into mine as child and it sure hurt - i think it felt better after a week but I had to walk around with my eye taped shut and an eye patch for a couple of  weeks.  An eye patch on a ruggedly handsome guy is cool but on a 3rd grade girl it's just plain sad!

Must be something going around with Basset's.  My husband was bit by our foster Basset trying to break up a fight this week (duh - he has since been instructed how to properly separate two dogs fighting and promises me that he will no longer LEAN over them and plunge his hands in the middle trying to grab their collars!)
The basset, Buddy, bit through his nail and finger and our dog chomped into his other arm!   Basset's have very strong jaws!

Praying for a speedy and full recovery for you!

Today has been a good day.  I am starting to get the whole depth perception thing down.  I did spill a large soda all over the place at lunch.  I just flat out reached through it.  That was embarrassing.  And they say I can drive??? I can't even drink ;-0

The doctor told me I can go back to work as soon as I feel up to it.  I am concerned my job is going to be challenging considering the whole one eye thing.  I dunno we'll have to see.

Oh my Mic!  I'm so sorry to hear about your "bad day at the office"!  You're in my thoughts!

Also, my ex-boyfriend had a nasty Basset, when they are mean, they are MEAN... it surprised me too! [:-]

I'm certain there was no pun intended on that one!

Glad you're home and feeling better.  Don't overdo things - I'm always saying once your eyes and teeth are gone, they're gone forever.  That's my motherly advice for the day.

    Hey Mic, how's your eye?
    • Gold Top Dog
    Mic, how are you doing?
    • Gold Top Dog
Hey Mick believe it or not I'm finally just reading this.  I hope you are feeling better.  Don't worry about the one eye thing though.  If it happens your brain will figure things out as you get used to it.  I've only been able to see out of my right eye since I was 5 and so far in my life I have been an aircraft mechanic for 20 years and now I am a conductor for the rail road.
All I'm saying is don't worry[:)]
Your great attitude alone will get you through this.  Hang in there!!!!

I am doing pretty well.  I have lost some vision in my right eye, but we won't know for a few more weeks if it is permanent or not.  If it is we will do surgery to recover the site.

I am back to work a little and have been working on Bark Avenue (our newest location) this past week.  That has been fun!

Thanks for the concern and prayers.
