James Herriot--I love this man!  I was so sad to hear of his passing.

I can't remember if there was a third girl, Tib, in the Betsy/Tacy series.  You'll have to re-read it for us!

I love VC Andrews! I've read all of her old stuff--not the newer ones though. Did you know that she died in the middle of the Heaven series? The rest of the books that have been published under her name were her ideas but written by someone else. Scandalous books! [;)]

Yeah, my sister told me after I had finished the series.  That certainly explained the difference I noticed in the series.  There's a disclaimer or whatever you want to call it, at the front of all the books since then.  I'm not as crazy about her newer books as I am the older ones.

I just googled Susan Conant and Elkhound and came up with The Dogfather. It's about a woman who trains dogs for the mob and specifically trains an Elkhound puppy. I'm getting that book for sure!

That title sounds right.  There was some discussion on the Elkhound list when it came out a  couple of years ago.  I read a newer book over the summer (could be the newest as far as I know), and she mentioned the Elkhound form the other book.  I've got to do the same thing I do with the other series I read- carry a list in my wallet of all the titles, and cross them off as I get them.

    BLADIVIR NABOKOV.

I eat up every word he writes. He owns 99.9% of English writers in their own language... and it's not even his native language! I'd learn Russian ONLY to read his words.
