Look what we got for the dogs!

You know the funny thing is I traded in my Ford F150 for a Honda Element since I was getting the new girl.  With one seat out and the other folded up, it's like a little play room or an X-pen inside.  The dogs love it, though I feel a little silly downgrading.  But the upside is the mileage, and a smaller monthly payment.[:)]

I love our car's fuel economy but at times I wish the car was a bit biger

We just gave our little green Echo to our oldest DS - we didn't think it would be worth an awful lot for trade-in because it has ... ahem ... 225,000 miles on it.  That's 225,000 TROUBLE FREE miles.  All we ever had to do was the routine stuff (brakes, tires, etc.) It was just a little too small - going to Home Depot or Lowes in the spring meant too many trips.  So we got a Toyota Matrix and I LOVE it. Nice size little wagon, and since it has a sun roof I can still get big stuff and just let it stick up through the hole. [:D] Since I used to be able to fit 6 sailors in a Nash Metropolitan, I really can make anything fit anywhere.

My mom used to drive a '98 Corolla when she had a long commute to work.  She drove it for years without a problem.  My cousin also has a '98 Corolla with over 200,000 miles.  Very reliable cars.

My aunt has a '94 Accord with 250,000 miles.  My '97 Accord had its first major issue in July.  The pulley bolt came loose, which caused the belts to come off (I think that's why ... I'm not good with car mechanics, so this is from memory).  It was expensive to repair, as typical of Japanese repairs, but it was the first major thing to go wrong on a car with 158,000 miles.  I'm sold on Hondas for life.

I am so jealous!!! I love hummers!

You all have nice cars compared to my 1993 Geo Metro - and DH's run down 1990 Toyota Corolla! We need to upgrade soon! I would post pictures but with all the rust they look like little mountains of dirt...[;)]

.....DH bought me a new Chevy Colbalt SS last year (also black) which I love, but it stays parked all winter. It's beautiful, and fast, but is horrible to drive in rain or snow.....

I have a Saturn ION Redline (exact same as the SS just different "brand) and the stock tires that come with the car SUCK. They are the Dunlop 9000's...NO RATING for snow at all. We got all season performance tires instead (Kuhmo brand) and it is AWESOME in rain or snow now. Try changing to a better tire and you can drive the SS more often. :)

Roxie does well in the backseat of my Accord, and it's an older '97 model.

Mine is a '97, too. It's just right, for two small dog crates. No big dog crate would fit in there, and I have a rule about dogs riding loose. It never happens, except when I pick up random strays that don't fit in the small dog crates[:D]

I got a new car a couple of months ago (not good for the dogs though - i cover the seats with a bedspread).  A month or so ago i am sitting in my car (stopped) and this guy backed into me.  I was sick.  He was an illegal alien with no license and no insurance.  The car belonged to his brother who was also an illegal alien and whose insurance had expired.  The guy was taken away by the police. Bottom line - i wrote the guy a letter (at the address on the accident report)and enclosed a copy of the estimate.  Today i got a money order for all but $200 of the damage.  I can't believe it!

Good advice, but it won't work. [&o] The dealership added "extras" to our Colbalt before we purchased it. They replaced the stock rims with 18 inch rims and low-profile tires. It looks great, but I have zero traction on ice and snow, so the car stays parked all winter. It has become my "summer fun" car [:)]

Yanke, I remember when you got your new car. That's terrible that you were in an accident. It's amazing that you recieved payment for the damage in that situation!
