We just gave our little green Echo to our oldest DS - we didn't think it would be worth an awful lot for trade-in because it has ... ahem ... 225,000 miles on it. That's 225,000 TROUBLE FREE miles. All we ever had to do was the routine stuff (brakes, tires, etc.) It was just a little too small - going to Home Depot or Lowes in the spring meant too many trips. So we got a Toyota Matrix and I LOVE it. Nice size little wagon, and since it has a sun roof I can still get big stuff and just let it stick up through the hole. [

My mom used to drive a '98 Corolla when she had a long commute to work. She drove it for years without a problem. My cousin also has a '98 Corolla with over 200,000 miles. Very reliable cars.
My aunt has a '94 Accord with 250,000 miles. My '97 Accord had its first major issue in July. The pulley bolt came loose, which caused the belts to come off (I think that's why ... I'm not good with car mechanics, so this is from memory). It was expensive to repair, as typical of Japanese repairs, but it was the first major thing to go wrong on a car with 158,000 miles. I'm sold on Hondas for life.
