Something to think about...

I know that Joel annoyed and offended Brenda BUT he only had as much POWER as she let him have. And unfortunately she let him have quite a bit. i wish she would have just ignored him if he bothered her so much! [sm=2cents.gif] i personally like him and find him hilarious! []

Brenda has posting privileges at [linkhttp://www.ourdogsonline.com]www.ourdogsonline.com[/link], and some idoggers occasionally lurk or post there, too.  Perhaps those who want to talk dogs with Brenda and Gina could spend some time there as well as at idog.  But, I'd hate to see this become yet another trainwreck.  We have a nice new format and a chance for a new beginning.  Let's take advantage of it.

I'm probably going to get jumped on here but I kind of miss Joel's humour.  He may have gotten out of hand more often than not but no one is perfect.  I'm sure he got a lot of help from this board as well and that is why we are here, No?  His opinions were just that, his opinions.  No one needed to agree with him but I saw alot of posts that started with "no doodle comments."  That was just asking for trouble from the start.  I am going to miss Brenda's advice just as much if not more, but unfortunately she let him get to her.  I wish she could have ignored him or just taken his humour at face value and left it alone.  But she didn't and that was her choice.  Personally I would not let one person stop me from helping others.  I'm pretty sure it was origionally her decision to leave even before she was banned.  And from what I've read it was her actions after that, that got her banned.  These are just my opinions.  I am not trying to be disrespectful.  But in case Joel is lurking I want him to know that not everyone here hates him.

Let us hope that when Joel returns from his little vacation, he will temper his posts a bit!

 I'll be the first to admit I have a vile sense of humor. If it's raunchy, racist, disgusting, clever or whatever I'll probably fall off my chair laughing. With that said, I didn't get Joel's humor.
 
I'm not one to "feed the monkeys" but there comes a time when you get tired of seeing misinformation being spread, when facts are being shown yet they must not be true because you(collective you) don't want to believe them or when certain subjects have been discussed, questions have been asked but when the attention is not on you what way to get it in full force than by starting a post on a "controversial" subject  in which you know a lot of people are going to respond especially if you're talking about things in which you really have no clue about? And that's not counting seeing a lot of things that would be considered "rule breakers" yet nothing seemed to be done about it.
 
After dealing with that nonsense and having it take up a lot of the board or even worse, finding it's way and corrupting a good thread, I can see why folks got pissed off, spoke their mind and/or moved on.
 
Either way, I'm going to try to maintain and not "feed the monkeys" in the future. It can be hard not to though. [8D]

See I think that is the problem.  A lot of people dont "get" Joels humour.  And thats ok.  A lot of times he butted into a serious thread with what he thought was comic relief.  I personally didnt mind it.  Obviously a lot of others did.  I never really understood why he always managed to derail threads like that.  It never seemed to be enough for me to forget what the thread was about originally.  But off everyone would go on Joel's tangent.  No wonder the guy deemed himself King.  He was given so much power here.  There have been threads that I would have found boring if not for Joel.  Not because they were not truely useful threads but because they did not interest me.  The designer dog idea really didnt phase me one way or another before but now that I have read those threads I agree that the idea is not a great one.  Joel did not manage to sway me in favour of "doodles".  In my opinion his purpose was to keep me in the thread long enough to really learn something.  Whether or not that was his intention is another thing.

So you don't really have to get Joel's humour.  I can't stand Jerry Seinfeld or Jim Carrey.  But I love Adam Sandler and Robin Williams.  We all have different opinions on everything.  If we didnt there would be no need for this board in the first place.

I too miss Joel's humor. So many days he has made me laugh. I know so many people here don't care for Joels humor, but I really did. I think he is very witty.

I think I'm going to miss the pics of Gina's pups when they're born....  so very sad to be deprived of new puppy pics....

find a blog on another site to share your daily antics and post the web site in your profile. Then, your followers can get a daily update as wanted and only post here for useful information.

I agree wholeheartedly Stacy. Although I just ignore threads or people who are annoying, I find it self-serving to use a community dog forum as your own personal blog site. I'm actually surprised the mods would allow that here, but...as I said...it's easily ignored IMO.
