Pumaward, she just seems to be a bit unsociable at times and very into Sam, she wags her tail but kisses are very minimal did u notice this with your Mal??
Maddi rarely gives kisses, and usually their ear kisses if she does ([:'(]). They can be somewhat aloof around people but most are social butterflies and it sounds like she's bonding more-so with Sam. Maybe you can spend somemore time with her one on one? I think that would help. Also, socialize her like crazy! Malamutes tend to be a people loving breed, but can become dog aggressive as they age. You'll also want to be careful around small animals as they have a high prey drive... most animals that they grow up with are "safe" because the mal views them as part of the pack, but outside cats and other animals can be at risk if the malamute isn't socialized from an early age with everything. I also want to echo what Ron said... mals are the same off-lead. They cannot ever be trusted... however, I still believe it is extremely important to get a "come" as solid as possible in case of the event she slips a collar or manages to unlatch a door [

].
I will say, also, I think NILIF (nothing in life is free) should be a part of her daily life. It should help with the many "behavioral problems" (they are really just normal doggy behavior) that you may encounter as she ages. Maddi really also enjoys clicker training, so that might be something you're interested in.
Here's a site that I really like for general malamute information. I don't agree with everything, but, over all, it seems really good [
