From left ti right, snickers, oliver, me, Khoale Khoale... love her already Winter Wonderland near the top of the mtn. • outdoorschik Posted : 4/8/2007 7:51:38 PM Cita - I wear a padded belt that sits on my hips, some people use leg loops, they are used for Canicross (dog assisted pulling) hiking and skijoring, in addition a bungee is attached to the leash line which is connected to the harness. This is so that the shock can be absorbed and it is a smooth hike. Having hiked this way, hands free and "assisted" by the dog there is no way I'd go back to any other way. My young black lab Oliver hikes off leash reliably, I do attach my other dog Snickers in a similar way to restrain her since it is so convenient, but she does not pull, she just walks along behind Khoale, due to arthritis. Oh, and you probably also see the extra line that I have attached to the loop as well for when we pass people or get to teh top so I can easily just snap Oliver on as well. • outdoorschik Posted : 4/9/2007 7:23:35 PM Cita.. with a Pap, i think you need to go get a Siberian, sew a soft bolstered pillow on to the harness, put the pap in it and let him/her rider like a queen/king ... canicross style of course lol. Or... you could train the Pap to pull a little pint sized sled... heck someone once entered a team of poodles into the Iditarod, why not paps? ...grin... Janobono...It is a great workout... the dog assist get me walking faster and longer Bevolasvegas... cold? well it was a beautiful as it gets for snow hiking... I bet you're dogs didnt mind to much though, they probably love it.
