Your whole crew is pretty adorable - can't believe how restrained he is when it comes to the cat's food.  Our cats have to have their own room to eat in - I had no faith I could contain Po's countersurfing!!

That first photo could be one of those "inspirational posters" I've seen in some offices.  You know the ones that have a single word like MOTIVATION or LEADERSHIP or something like that, and then some photo.  Your photo of Baily staring at the cat dish could a poster for PATIENCE.  What amazing restraint, and definitely shows how well behaved he is!

Thanks!  We think he's pretty handsome too.   We try real hard to provide all the furkids with what they need to be happy.  Whatever that may be.  In exchange we get lots of  entertainment and love.

They really need or want so little.  What they give in return is priceless.

I think the key to his patience has been knowing that a reward would come.  It started with him being calm at meal times.  I didn't want him jumping all over me when I was preparing his meal.  If he didn't sit calmly...I wouldn't put the bowl on the floor.  Then it progressed to I set the bowl down and tell him to "wait".    Then he waited longer.   He started being so paitient with the cats on his own.  Don't get me wrong....he still needs supervision or he will decide that he has waited long enough and help himself.   I don't really need to hover over him though.

I bet any dog can learn a little patience.  You have what they want.  They need to behave the way you want in order to get it.  Just don't expect too much too soon...........

What a good doggie.   [:D]   I make hawk wait for his food too.   He is almost at the point of not pushing the cats of their food but still needs some work.

    A bit off topic........

Neigi , orange and white colored (means "friend" in Ojibwae) is possibly a Turkish Van breed.  He came to me as a stray so I can't say for sure.  He and Buster (on brown blanket) are both 12 years old.  Rufus, with the devil eyes, is 10.

I agree with  tacran ... I think I'll print that out and hang it up in my office!
I love the 3rd pic of the first set of 4 pics you posted... Baily is beautiful!

Wow! Baily looks so much like my dog. How much does he weigh? I have photos of my zoo in the introduction area.

Machelle:  that shot was taken the day we brought him home.  Adoption day at the local PetsMart.  New Year's Day 2005.  He was about 6 months old.

Agave:  He looks SOOOOO much like yours !?!  I would love to see another photo of yours.  I think Baily is Smooth Coat Collie and perhaps Yellow Lab ??  Right now he is 64 lbs.  I am finally winning the weight loss battle with him.  He was 70 a couple months ago.  Almost to the point of desparation (after a year of trying) I switched his food one more time to Canidae Chicken & Rice...started losing right away.

OK this is an old one they don't do this anymore, but I couldn't help showing it off. I have many more that I'll post soon.

Stamp is 46 now I really need to get him back to 42 lbs. He has been called almost everything, but we're pretty sure there has to be some kind of hound in him, his nose rules, if he smells something interesting, all other senses are shut off. I'd have to say you have a really good looking dog ;) I need to train our dogs to wait like that for the cats to eat. I have a 15 yr old cat that I think I'm going to have to start feeding extra canned food separated from the others so she gets enough.

Fantastic pics!! the first one is my favorite. I definitely agree that it could be turned into an inspirational poster! You should send it in to a photo contest or something.

He really is a gorgeous boy!
