    Yet another basenji...meet Charlie

I pulled this guy from the county shelter Thursday.  We'll be fostering him until he's placed, which sounds like it might be fairly soon.  He was found as a stray with tags.  The shelter called his owner who came in, positively ID'd him and then refused to pay the fee to spring him.  He just left him at the shelter to whatever fate found him!  Fortunately, the shelter called BRAT and we were able to pull him.

And here he is along with Kiya and Sam.  Charlie is showing off his cute "beg" trick he does, where he gets on his back paws and paws at the air with his front legs.

    What a handsome basenji!!

What a handsome & silly boy.  I'm so glad you sprang him.  What a butt head his former owner is.  Give Charlie some skritches from me.  His life is only going to get better.

The owner wouldnt pay? What a jerk, his loss cause he looks like he is perfectly at home with you!
How is the resident doggy taking it?

The resident pups like Charlie just fine.  Charlie was smart enough not to challenge Kiya for dominance so she was happy to allow him to hang out.  Sam is just thrilled to have another playmate.  Right now Charlie is at the vet getting neutered and we already have 2 applications on file who may be a good fit for him.

Good thing you  pullled him, I wonder why  they didn't pay it. I sure would with a face like that [:D]

    Basenjimom,

It looks like you need some color in that r/w pack of yours!

My first basenji (r/w female) would put her feet abover her head like that.  She'd do it with her back end sitting.  I put it on a "Stick 'em up" cue.

I actually agree agile.  I love all the different markings of basenjis, and don't prefer the red and white despite what it looks like.  It just so happens that all the little buggers who make their way into my home are red and whites.  So far both of my own and all of my fosters have been red and white.  I don't know if there are any other colors in Arizona!
