Thanks, all - we've had a pretty good first day and night. Pofi was really nervous about what she was doing when we were all trying to get to sleep (she really wasn't doing anything, but he felt he needed to keep an eye on her none the less) so we crated her and then he was able to settle down. She did very well, but his puppy crate is just a little snuggish, so we are off to buy two larger kennels so they each have their own today.

Lani - her name going into rescue was Meeka from her original family - not sure of it's origin. We will be e-mailing Pet Haven for any more info they have on her history, but she really is not terribly shy of people or dogs and seems to have no major issues - not food aggressive with people (can put our hands right in her bowl) and pretty good with kids (she was wanting to jump up on Carrie's friend's daughter at dog park yesterday, but we can work on that),
We will transition her to Mia, pronounced just as your teacher pronounces her daughter's name, Sarah. In Italian, it is the feminine of "mine" and so for now it is MiaMeeka, which really sounds just like "mia amica" or my friend in Italian - very appropriate and we keep to our all things Italian theme (I know Sofia will be so pleased).
