    Mountain Time

Earlier this week Aspen & I went to the mountains @ the invitation of my brother & his family.  It was great to get away, spend some non-crisis time with my brother & the family.

    We walked alot

    Sunned ourselves on rocks

    Went for a boat ride

    Snuggled

    Played with my brother's dog

    She slept with my nephew

Oh how I *love* the mountains.

I bet you guys had a great time!

Why did Grady stay home?? [sm=sad.gif]  Was he too "up your butt" and you had to get away??  lol

It was wonderful.  I grew up going to this particular lake every summer.  It has alot of memories for me & has always been a source of great clarity for me.  I had to make a choice as to who could go with me.  I knew I couldn't handle 2 dogs up there.  Grady would be off in Canada now if I took him.  He's got a huge prey drive & would be off in the woods chasing any small furry that even thought about crossing his path.
Aspen, on the other hand, was fabulous.  It was a great bonding trip for us.   We worked on alot of stuff while there & I was able to give him limited off leash time.  Since Aspen is soooooooooooooo food driven it was easy.  I was so proud of him.  He's the perfect travel buddy.  I even took him to a local tourist town on my way home.  He was great walking around & when I tied him outside while I went in a store for some retail therapy he was very good.  He'd sit there patiently waiting for me until I came out of the store.

Looks like a lot of fun!

Is your brother's dog an Elkhound? The coloring and curly tail made me think that. Maybe something else mixed in--but I think she looks a lot like an Elkhound.

Beautiful pictures!  So glad you and Aspen enjoyed a peaceful respite with family!

Your brother's dog is beautiful- I thought she must be part elkhound, too!

I'm not 100% sure of Denali's lineage.  She's a rescue so your guess is as good as mine.  I believe the shelter had her as a GSD/x.  I'm pretty sure she's got mostly Elkhound in her & I was hoping that you, Loki's_mom would chime in on what she might be.

Lisa Marie, it was so relaxing there.  here was one order of business that we had to take care of.  We sprinkled some of dad's ashes there.

Oh, Annie, how tough, but what a lovely, lovely place to scatter some of Dad's ashes.  So peaceful and such a speacial place with meaning and memories for all of you.

Pofi, Mia and I send you hugs.

On Denali (excellent name), sure looked like Elkhound/GSD to me. But that's just a VERY uneducated guess - purely gut reaction.

great...i have been dying to get gus out to the lake...we have 3 within 25 miles of me

thirdday, I think that Gus will love it.  It was a blast just rowing Aspen around.  I know this is kinda strange but I pictured us out on a date & I was paddling my boyfriend around. ~L~

Lisa Marie, no, it wasn't tough.  It felt so right.   You know that deep down gut feeling that it's just the right thing to do?

One thing I know for sure about Denali is that she is 100% sweetheart.  She kept trying to play with Aspen but he wasn't interested.  Good thing there were other dogs in camp that she could play with.

Cindy, I live pretty close to mountains myself.  I love it.  I'm a mountain girl myself.

Your pups are gorgeous, and it looks like you had a great time in the moutains!

I'm not great at identifying breeds (except Elkhounds!), but I'd say Elkhound/GSD mix. She is such a cutie! And I love the name Denali.

I thought it was kinda cool that we had a Denali & an Aspen.  Both mountains or mountainous areas AT the mountain.  Kind cool, I guess. ~L~
