New Years Week

Happy New Year All!  Blackeyed peas are ready in the crock pot, cornbread in the oven, bacon wrapped stuffed pork loin in the oven, potatoes on the stove ....yummy almost time to eat.  Watched the Rose parade on the new tv we got in Sept.  It was so awesome, loved seeing all the colors and details.

Looking forward to a Happy and Healthy 2015!!!  Ron and I were discussing how that sounds to us...lol...2015   whoda thunk it. :)

Happy New Year to all --

Jackie I'm glad to hear Charles is progressing well --  but you guys are going to stay firmly on my prayer list!

Nice to see everyone.  Chalk me up as another one bidding good riddance to 2014 but I'm happy that it "went out" better than it began. for me.  According to the doctors the hernia surgery finished resolving the pinched sciatic nerve spasms and I am nearly weaned-off all the drugs.   I can't wait..

Dogs are all good.  Life doesn't seem to slow down much.

Gray day, about freezing (warm for Jan) with a little wind.  Pheasant hunting ends Sunday-temp will be below zero- so took Shy for runs at two WMAs. Lots of tracks, saw a black dot on the horizon with the general shape of a bird, but just had a nice walk in the deep grass.  Then went and walked in a willow swamp for a while.  Pup loved it.  Bunny tracks, bird tracks, deer tracks, mouse tracks.  He loved running through the willows.  But he is now sleeping on my feet.

Going to an Xmas party at my former employers later.  Returning a large bag of t-shirts with logos and a few parts that came home by accident.  Also turning in the cell phone he paid for for the last 10 years.  I don't know if I really need one.  We have a phone tied to the wall-easy to find, big buttons.  My wife has an I phone.  I never really used the cell except for calling customers, vendors, or technical services.  I will check out the options, but curmudgeons just don't talk to a lot of people.

Looks like winter is coming back on Sunday.  Temp dropping, wind rising.  Uff da!!

    Sky snores.  A lot.

Great photos, Doug.  Sky is a happy dog who truly delights in the elements he was bred for.

As for turning in your cell phone, I bet you'll be just fine with only your landline.  I'm far more talkative than the average curmudgeon, and even though I finally got a cell phone 2 years ago (a flip phone, not a smart phone), it sits in the bottom of my purse, used very rarely.  The only time I have to really talk on the phone is when I'm home near my landline, which has far better reception than any cell phone people have used to call me.

Callie, so good to see you and to hear that you've had such a good report after your hernia surgery.  Here's to a 2015 that is free of any spasms and health setbacks for you!

I'm dragging today -- I'm dosing up on Vitamin C, Airborne, Zicam, etc.  I feel a lot like I did the day I came down with the flu 3 years ago.  I do NOT want to get sick right now.  Too much to do at work in the next week, and a dear friend is arriving from CT next Thursday for an extended visit.  Go away germs!!

Callie and Auburn so good to see you. Doug I am also a rural landline person. I have a flip phone, not smart, to use for emergencies and grocery requests.
