Yesterday was absolutely beautiful and the wedding, simple, but elegant and absolutely lovely. People on the beach stopped what they were doing to watch the wedding.
We arrived, thanks to not very clear instructions, about 10 minutes late, and I shooed Todd out of the car and said I'd find a place to park. As I was getting ready to back up, the bridal party assembled in the parking lot, so the timing was excellent. Whew!!
Since it was 81 degrees (seriously?? In Maine?? In early JUNE?) I didn't feel like I could leave Theo the butt biter in the car so took him with me and he was EXCELLENT!! Not a look even when DSS came and gave me a hug. He was so very good! He watched the people while I watched the wedding (DH was running around with the camera),
The wedding itself was absolutely beautiful. I've never seen two people more in step with one another, more in love, and more committed to having a good life together.
At the reception, DH and I were "announced" entering the reception room, flowers and all. When I asked Rob why the heck I was getting a corsage he gave me a hug and said "because you're my stepmom and I wanted you included" I couldn't blame the tears on sand blowing in my eyes then.
I think Rob got a kick out of seeing me all teary. I don't cry. He knows that no one can make me cry, but, gosh, I teared up when I saw Breanna in the parking lot and I kept doing it through the service and reception. Truly a beautiful day.
Friday on the other hand was not so beautiful. Fridays are always jammed full and about 6PM, after worrying all day about a funny noise from the back of the car, I blew a strut. Then the funny noise became a rat a tat tat as the top of the strut bounced around the top of the wheel well. Close to midnight DS finished replacing said strut. We were a little tired for our trip, needless to say! But thankfully, the darned thing decided to break BEFORE we started the trip and in time to fix it so we could go.
I slept for 11 hours last night. 'Nuff said!
Hope everyone else is getting this great weather and enjoys the day!
