    High Anxiety Tuesday, 5/6

Guess I'll start chat today.  The thread title might be slightly exaggerated, but I thought I'd make a cinema reference, as well as a hint towards my nerves today.  DH dropped Ruby off at the vet about 8am, and she was relatively calm, so that's good.  She could tell something was up this morning since DH was home, so she was more into following us around that standing by her food bowl.

We don't expect to hear anything until after her dental is completed -- they said maybe 11 or 11:30.  Even though the vet doesn't see anything obvious that implies she'll need extractions, they do Xrays, so it's possible they could call to let us know they found an issue during the procedure, but fingers crossed all will be fine, and DH can pick her up early this afternoon.

No surprise I'm nervous, but DH said he didn't sleep well, and he had dreams about having his teeth pulled AND Ruby having teeth pulled.  Given the major dental work he's had in recent weeks, the dental-related stress in our household is a bit much lately!

Better get to the piles of invoices on my desk so I can stay distracted!

Calming vibes for you, Tracy, and smooth dental vibes for Ruby!

Not much to report here. The A. Cracks were outside working on their house at lunch time. Fortunately it was too early to be mooned. Stick out tongue

Tina, maybe you should pull together a playlist of moon-themed songs and start blasting them out your window while they're working.  Let's see, there's "Moon River," "Bad Moon Rising," "Blue Moon," "Moondance," ---- I'm sure I could come up with more!

DH just got a call from the vet.  The good news is that Ruby's teeth cleaned up really well, he didn't see any signs of any infection anywhere, no cracked teeth, etc.  The bad news is that her two bottom front teeth (we call them her "baby teeth because they are so tiny) are very, very loose.  The Xrays show that there is hardly any bone there for the teeth to be rooted to.  He said it could be the result of an infection she had long ago (none there now), or it could be a congenital birth defect.  DH asked what he would do if Ruby were his dog, and he said he'd remove them.  If it were a canine or a major molar, he'd consider alternatives, but these two teeth aren't as vital, and as loose as they are, he suspects they are causing her some discomfort, and will likely come out or get infected one of these days.  So, DH told him to remove them.

Hopefully that's the right decision -- the funny thing is we've always thought those teeth were "cute" because they are so tiny compared to her other front teeth. We've never wiggled them or noticed looseness, and she tugs with toys without a problem, but I guess he could see more risk based on the Xrays and being able to handle them much more than she lets us touch her teeth.

So that's the update.  She'll have a goofy grin, I guess.  Maybe her bark will develop a lisp now!  Wink

I'm glad Ruby's dental went ok other than the two loose teeth that were pulled.   Ruby with a lisp.  hehehehe  That's funny.

Nothing much going on here. Oh, wait, I almost forgot.  I had a chance to enroll in a reactive dog class for Belle.  Tonight and tomorrow night are just for the owners and then if we want we can sign up for the class that the dogs go to.  I'm excited because I missed the last opportunity to go to this class.  I love the trainer and hope to get a lot out of it.

Heaving a big sigh of relief for Ruby.

Today has been completely insane.  I need a drink!

Glad to hear Ruby is doing well. :)  Love the story about the I-Cracks .

Not much new in my world, Ava is now 3 years old and is a delight. i;m getting over a broken wrist, it is taking forever! guess because I'm old. Does seem better the past two days. Took Ava for her morning walk this morning, the first since march 5th. DH has been taking her every  morning since my fall.

If I am absent tomorrow, it is because I checked myself into the looney bin. Between computer problems all afternoon and an ongoing problem with a lawn mowing contractor, I'm right on the edge. Indifferent

See ya at the check-in desk, Tina!  I'll be right behind you, mumbling to myself.

Vivian, I'm glad to hear you were able to resume your dog walking duties.  It's true that injuries take longer to heal the older we get -- I'm glad it was only your wrist that was broken, and not your hip or even your leg.

Hey, speaking of broken legs, that reminds me of Joyce and her broken leg (femur, I think?).  Has anyone heard from her?  I don't know if she's on Facebook, but I've not seen her here since the forum change, as far as I recall.  I hope she and Max are okay.

    A dog lisp lol!

I hope you enjoy the class jJackie! The reactive dog classes always stress me out. You have to keep doing them though

Abbie had her free service dog eye exam today. She was not pleased with the whole experience. They put drops in to dilate her eyes and of course there were lots of dogs there so she pretty much flipped out. Major stress. At one point when the doc was examining her abbies mouth got real tight. Tight mouths on dogs are never a good thing! I was worried and said so to the vet. Abbie has never growled or bitten anyone but you can't ignore that tight mouth signal. All turned out OK though and once the vet was done abbie gave him a lick. Her eyes are all good so I probably won't do this again for a few years. An might go someplace else besides msu where there will be less chaos (there's a dog eye specialist not far from here that  told is a much calmer atmosphere).

We also had a regular vet visit and I had the annual girl exam. Those are always fun.  I also hit Comcast and found out the phone customer service rep never cancelled my service like they were supposed to. Gotta love telecom companies. Needless to say I got a credit going back several months. I had pt today too and took Neiko and lily for a bike run. And did some shoe shopping.  Next is abbies sar training. Busy day! I'm going to need a vacation day from my vacation day.

I'm glad Ruby's dental went well except for having two teeth removed. Give her some belly rubs for me. Hope you and DH sleep well tonight.

I'm sorry you broke your wrist Vivian. It's good that your DH was able to walk Ava while you were healing but I'll bet you are happy to be walking her again.
