On the NDR daily chat, I've talked about Ruby's new routine being un-crated, but I thought I'd post in a new thread to see what happens. Like Jackie said the other day, I don't think everyone sees new threads.
It's been a couple weeks since we've started leaving Ruby un-crated during the day. She's been great, no problems, seeming to stay on the love seat or her bed. Today our schedule was a bit altered, so she was alone for 5 hours instead of 3-4. I opened the door, and she greeted me as usual, with her Nylabone in her mouth. I stepped in and saw stuffing all over the floor. I said, "Uh-oh, what did you do Ruby?" I made sure my voice was cheerful as I kept repeating that as I walked around the house assessing the damage.
Funnily enough, after I started saying that and walking around, she started skulking near me, head down, belly low, even going in her crate several times. She knew she did something inappropriate, even though I wasn't acting or sounding angry. It was actually kind of funny, because it was 4 stuffed teddy bears that sit on a landing upstairs. We rarely go up there (it's two tiny bedrooms and a bath), so she never goes up there on her own.
Based on the way small rugs and things were all askew downstairs, it was obvious she had zoomed around, tossing them all over, destuffing one of them, leaving others in random places on her zoom path. Needless to say, the surviving bears will go behind the closed bedroom doors now!
