    Monday, ugh! 12-2

    Tough getting up this morning

So who is going Web shopping today? I have a few things I have my eyes on but really can't afford to buy anything. I already spent loads of money here. The shopping here is awesome. And speaking of the the economy here is really thriving. I am not used to that! It's a far cry from Michigan where there's abandoned buildings everywhere, hardly any traffic, a handful of stores and certainly no specialty shops.

Sking never happened yesterday thanks to some pretty bad attitude sickness. That was a bummer.

Back to work today. Better get a move on

Sorry about the skiing, Julie.  I doubt I'll be doing any web shopping today.  I hate shopping, even on the web.

    Being back to work sucks.

    No web shopping here either.

I agree, being back to work sucks. Today is the calm before the storm - November month end paperwork will start piling up tomorrow. I'd better nap at my desk while I can.

I'm not feeling as energized as I should be after 4 days off.  As is usually the case on Sunday nights, I didn't sleep well last night since I got "too much" (i.e., a normal, healthy amount) of sleep on Saturday night!

I'm sorry you didn't get to the skiing, Julie.  At first, I wondered what "attitude sickness" was.  It sounds like something I definitely have.  Then I realized you probably meant "altitude." Big Smile

I've got a very busy week at work (the first week of the month is always my worst week), but because it's the end of the year, this week will be followed by several very busy weeks, clear into early February.  I don't need another reminder of how fast the months go by, but I swear I was just dealing with these year-end deadlines a couple months ago!

Today is the first "regular" day that Ruby will be out of her crate while we're at work.  Due to her sudden breaking out episodes a couple weeks ago, we decided to try some short periods of giving her freedom in the house (with a couple rooms closed off).  DH was off all last week, so she had several shorter stints of being alone and uncrated when he was running errands and whatnot.  Today was the first normal workday with our usual routine, so we'll see how it goes.  We've never had to dog-proof the house since we've always crated, but now we're making sure there are no tempting things on the counters, on the floor, etc.  DH goes home for lunch, so we'll see what he finds!

Tracy, how did Ruby do when your DH checked on her?  I bet she did fine. :)

My email at work is all wonky.  I can send but not receive.  Makes it tough to communicate effectively.  According to AT&T it's a server maintenance "issue" which should be repaired by tomorrow.  That makes no sense to me.  If it's maintenance why say it will be repaired?  Anyway, I hope tomorrow it's back to normal.

We were outside playing with the dogs when we heard a bunch of emergency vehicle sirens.  The sirens went on and on and Rex started to howl.  That's the first time we could remember hearing Rex howl.  Gabby looked at him like he'd turned into a werewolf. lol  Belle just kept on retrieving her ball.  :)  I don't know why but I find it so funny when dogs howl.  Twister used to do it every now and then and being so little it really cracked me up.

We got up to 81 degrees today.  Tomorrow will be warm again but they say we'll get a cold front near the end of the week.

Thanks for asking about Ruby, Jackie.  So far, so good.  DH said nothing was amiss when he came home for lunch.  He did say, however, that when he started preparing to leave (gather his keys, turn off the TV and turning on the radio), she got into her crate like she always does when we do certain things that mean we're leaving.  He didn't close the crate door, and I could tell she'd been on the love seat when I came home 3-4 hours later, so she didn't stay in there. Fingers crossed the transition will remain this smooth!

I think howling is intriguing . . . Why do some dogs howl at sirens and others don't?  Tonka never barked or howled in response to other dogs or sirens.  Ruby barks in response to other dogs' barks, but so far hasn't howled at sirens.  But we've not had any immediately nearby that went on for more than a couple seconds.

Edited to add that 81 degrees sounds really nice.  It's rainy, very windy, and raw today.  We had some hail earlier.

Attitude sickness hahaha! Yeah I have that too lol

Sounds like ruby did well. I hope that continues!!

I have never had a dog that howls at sirens. I think it is pretty funny. Abbie is my only howler but she won't do it on command. She really only howls when people leave and she wants them to come back. She has howled to call other dogs before too but every time I try to teach her to do it on command she does this little growl moan thing instead. Which cracks me up. Neiko does the same thing. I totally don't understand why they don't get it. Dogs are supposed to be good imitators so when I am howling they should mimic me. My husky and my mutt before that both figured it out. Stupid aussies ;p

It was 65 here today. The temp is dropping to the single digits the rest of this week though. Brrrrrr. Totally not ready for that.

Good girl, Ruby.  That loveseat is the perfect nap spot. :)

Single digits!  Brrrrrr!  I'll just stay here and moan about it getting into the 30's. lol

When Twister used to howl, I'd tease him (not that he knew or cared) and tell him "sing the song of your people, little dog".

    @JackieG
When Twister used to howl, I'd tease him (not that he knew or cared) and tell him "sing the song of your people, little dog".

That reminds me of videos I've seen floating around of dogs howling in duets with their humans singing.  Smile
