    TGIF 10/25

woohoo we are off to the beach in an hour!! Its going to be very cold but sunny. Bugsy LOVES cold weather and by and large southerners do not so it should be a nice wide open beach for him to run around on!

I rarely have time to get on here - the slow loading and logging in just makes it impossible to just pop in.

I don't recall if I mentioned this or not but last Sunday my step-daughter and husband had a baby girl - she was fashionably late (5 days) and thus looks older than newborn - nice and pudgy LOL

I hope everyone is doing well - I can't believe its the end of Oct already!!

Ah I can't wait to just completely relax at the beach...................

Have a great time at the beach, Karen!  I love the beach when it's not crowded.  I need a beach trip. I would love to just go by myself and walk on the beach and have no one to please and nothing to do.  If I actually ever did that I'd probably be miserable but it always sounds like a good idea. :)

I am so glad it's Friday.  Hope I can make it through the day without losing my temper.  It's been a terrible week at work and I have slept badly every night.  When I can't sleep I go and lay on the couch and watch TV.  That always reminds me of sleeping on the couch with Twister when he was sick and that makes me so sad that I go down that emotional memory lane.

Our weather is nice.  They say we might get some showers this weekend.

TGIF. I am taking Monday off work and the only thing planned is a quick trip to the dentist for an x-ray of the spot my implant is going to see how the screws are healing (or not).

I love the beach by the ocean, but I'm like Goldilocks: it can't be too hot or too cold; I want the temps just right!

Jackie, I can sympathize with what you described about how you're reminded of lying with Twister on the couch . . . in Tonka's final weeks, I had many nights of lying with him during the night (he stopped lying on our bed a few weeks before he died).  Being awake and in the living room in the middle of the night makes me think of those heartbreaking hours, too.  Crying

Karen, have a wonderful time at the beach.  The last time we did a beach trip it was VERY cold (like in the 30's), but brilliant sun (a winter rarity at the beaches here).  We bundled up and walked a very long way and saw only a few other brave souls.  We didn't have Ruby then.  We've not taken her to the beach yet.  We need to do that sometime.

Speaking of beach trips, the annual fundraising dinner/auction for our local shelter is tomorrow night, and there are a couple hotel stays on the auction block that I want to bid on.  One is a beautiful dog-friendly place we went to a few years ago and have wanted to go back.  It's an expensive place, but if I buy it at the auction, I feel like it's okay to spend the money since it goes to our favorite charity.

It's a costume/Halloween themed event.  I'm wearing a vintage dress that I've had for 25+ years and have never worn.  It belonged to an elderly lady who lived next door to my aunt.  When she died, her kids were clearing out her apartment, and they were pitching all her clothes.  I happened to be her size, so my aunt got several things for me, including this beautiful sequin dress.  I got a feather boa and a cloche hat (1920's style), so I'll be Great Gatsby-ish.  DH goes for gruesome costumes every year -- he gets really gross make-up done by someone who does theatre make-up.  This year he's going to be a diseased Italian chef named Sal Monella.  Surprise

Super foggy today -- how weird is it to need your windshield wipers on due to fog??

Have fun at the beach, Karen !!

((((( Jackie ))))) Hang in there, girlfriend.

Good luck at the dentist, Tina.

Karen we miss hearing from you.  Hope you guys have a wonderful time at the beach.

    ((Jackie)) ..... Broken Heart

Tina, good luck with the Dentist too bad you have to spend a Mon at the dentist.

Sal Monella now that's funny!!  Love the costume you are wearing, that would be my favorite era.  I have a few of my Granny's shoes from the 40's and a couple of suits.

    Have a great weekend all!

Deb, I had to look up what Brucellosis was . . . sounds pretty bad.  Maybe I'll tell DH he should incorporate that into next year's costume.  I'm thinking of some kind of pun/twist on Bruce Lee with sickly make-up maybe?  As for me, I'll stick with the more refined costumes.  Every year we look like a very odd couple because I always wear something non-scary and he always wears something really scary or gross.  Last year we were a nice pair:  Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's and a rotting Zombie.  Tongue Tied

Ginger, if you're ever able to make a trip to Oregon in late October to join me at the auction event, it sounds like you've got some fun things to wear from bygone eras.  I think it's fun to wear clothes from different decades.  But it sure was depressing when I started seeing 1980's attire (think Madonna and MTV-inspired outfits) turn up as Halloween costumes.  You know you're old when your high school and college attire is now a Halloween costume!!
