    @JackieG
      Are you sure you didn't drink ten of those drinks?

    I wish the answer were that simple, Jackie.  Then I wouldn't have to wait for our IT consultant to solve my problem..  I could just sober up on my own!

    I forgot about your DH's finger injury, too, Cathy.  Hopefully it's healing well.

    Nice to "see" you, Karen!  Sounds like you've got a very busy schedule.  I understand the frustrations you described about your Mom, her weight, and her knee pain.  For years, we've been listening to my MIL go on about her aches, pains, and weakness.  At well over 80, she's entitled to have them.  But a good deal of her limitation is the result of nearly a lifetime of no exercise.  You can't expect to maintain decent mobility in your 80's if you've never done anything to aid your muscles' and bones' strength and flexibility.

    We non-Facebookers miss seeing you around here, Karen.  And it makes me think of several others I've not "seen" in a long while:  Kate, Sharon, Jen . . . I'm sure I've forgotten some other "regulars" from the old format.  I know a few others have only posted a couple times since the forum change.  I hope everyone eventually comes back more often!

    Jackie - Finding out on the 2nd isn't too bad at all. Yay for you!!

    The fingers haven't fallen off and there's been no more episodes of blood everywhere, so I guess all is okay. I was really ticked off about the whole thing because DH tries to make me feel like a big worry wart. So, when I saw him being reckless with the saw and not wearing any gloves or eye protection, I just averted my eyes and kept busy stacking wood. When I saw him dancing around, instead of being worried, I was mad. Like Karen, I have no patience for stupidity. I've told him to wait to trim the trees next time when I'm at work. I'll remind him to keep his cell phone with him but I don't want to watch an accident waiting to happen anymore. Okay - rant over. Aren't you glad you asked? ;)

    Oh boy, Cathy . . . I so understand what you mean, and I share your rant!  DH acts like I'm the biggest nag in the world when I make a comment about whether something he's doing is safe or suggesting he ask a neighbor to help him do what is obviously a 2-man job, etc.

    I admit that I am a worry-wart, but it's for good reason.  Right off the top of my head, I can name 3 men who suffered HORRIBLE injuries doing yard/house chores.  One guy broke his wrists in a zillion places falling off a ladder, one guy had a severe head injury after falling off the roof removing Christmas lights, and one guy nearly severed his hand (at the wrist) using a chain saw.  These are people I know, not just some stories I heard on TV or in the paper.  If I thought about those stories, too, then I'd be even more a wreck.  You're right -- not watching is less stressful.

    Anyway, glad his fingers seem to be okay now.

    Cathy, I can sympathize.  DH has done some pretty dumb things that caused him to get hurt.  He's had to be stitched up many times. :(

    I think the cooler weather had forgotten where Texas is!  Is almost 90 here today and sunny.  Night before last I woke up at 3:00 to bright lightning and thought we were in for agood rain.  Didn't think about it at the time but no thunder with lightning.  Woke up at 7:15 and got up...no rain, not one drop had fallen.  But then about9;00 it did start to rain and we got5 1/4 of an inch.  I know that isn't much but were were in such a drough all spring and summer and during sept we got 3" one time, and then it is rained 1-2 times a week but only like 1/10 to 1/2 inch and even those little dribs and drabs help keep grass gree and flowers blooming.  have some beautiful roses and daisies.

    Yay, I got the title to my car today!  Frees up money for Christmas shopping!  Funny how Nissan keeps sending me emails to reserve my new car now...fat chance!

    I agree that having to log in every day sometimes prevents me from posting. It's just a simple step, but it's annoying.

    Ugh. My dose is all duffy. It started with a sore throat last night. Here's to the school year! Beer
