Sarah, because behavior is behavior, and the principles are the same, no matter the species. Trust me, I change human behavior for a living.

I detect an extra silly vibe going through today's thread -- and it's not even 10AM here yet!

Sarah, I don't have children, so I can't speak about the best ways to raise them, but in observing kids I encounter in my regular routine, I've thought to myself many times that the parent(s) might benefit from some dog training advice.  Actually, one of my friends (who has 2 kids and 2 dogs) said something once about wishing she could crate train her kids but she knew she'd be charged with child abuse.  I told her I thought a crib or playpen was sort of a version of a crate -- just without the "roof," right?  It's a good time-out, chill-out, safety space for very active toddlers.

Similarly, those "leash" things you see some parents using with toddlers seem like a good idea to me, although I know they're controversial.  My mother used one on me (although I don't remember it) after I wandered off in a department store and she had to enlist help from the staff to find me (in a sheer panic, of course).

Hey, I don't think I've given you guys a rat count in a couple days.  It's now up to 29.  Did I mention that the other 2 neighbors whose yards adjoin the "hot zone" yard are now setting traps, too?  The professionals come Thursday, so we'll see what else they can do.

Callie, sounds like interesting stuff at your nearby garage.  Good thing they warned people, or there would've been lots of 911 calls!

Hi all, I have missed you guys hope all is well.

Just dropping by for a quick visit.  The weather here has been almost fall like for that last 4 or 5 days.  We finally got a bit of that rain that has been soaking some of you.   I have been trying to get ready for the kids annual visit on Labor Day weekend.  Unfortunatly with weather changes also comes fibro changes...yucky...but I must trudge on :)  We have scaled back in recent years but I still have lots to do to prep.

Received an email yesterday that an online aquaintance that was very instrumental in helping place fosters and forever homes to Big Black Dogs unexpectedly passed.  RIP Sue, you will be missed by many.

Jackie I am sorry to hear of your friend passing also.  Tina sorry to hear about the horse at the track, very sad.  Cathy it sounds like you and your friend are having a good time, better make sure Shane is not a stow-a-way in the suitcase when she leaves :)

Hugs to you all and smooches to all the furr babies from me and the boys.
