I don't know a darn thing about horse racing, so I'd have to pick my horses solely based on if I like their names.  And before I read your post, Tina, I thought "Overanalyze" was a must for me, since that's practically my middle name!

Deb, at first when you said Kate told you that person was dating someone she went to high school with, I thought you meant Kate our fellow iDogger, not Kate your daughter.  So I was thinking the age difference was in reverse!  I finally figured it out!  Speaking of Kate -- haven't seen her post in a bit.  Hope all is well on the island.

Karen, the weather gods must've swapped the weather between us.  You're having what is completely normal weather for us this time of year.  And with the exception of some rain one night early this week, we've had nearly 2 weeks of sunny, warm days.  They're saying 80 today, and 86 by Sunday.  I had to get some short sleeve shirts out, and I even wore shorts doing yard work the other day.  When I see the snow some areas have had this week, it's baffling!

The TV coverage of the CA fires is scary.  I can't imagine seeing flames coming towards your neighborhood, then evacuating and not knowing what you'll come home to.

Kid I was going to see is not in school today. Would have been nice of the office staff to tell me when I asked them to check the schedule for me. I went was a bad time, so I went to the bank and the farmers market and came back. I decided to go get my hair cut, but I may have to leave without doing it if it doesn't happen soon. I just went to the Hair Cuttery, but the wait was a half hour. Hopefully it's not really a half hour, and it's nice, so I'm not having my hair dried. I like going out in wet hair.

Erm I think I should probably eat some real food today.  So far I've had a small banana, small package of almonds, hot tea, and now sipping on hot chocolate.

Tracy, I'm sure it is scary but the TV coverage makes it look a lot more widespread than it really is.  Every fire season, my in-laws in NM used to call because they thought the entire state was going up in flames. I just hope this year when people are told to evacuate, they have the good sense to do it instead of staying to *protect their stuff* and then having to be rescued anyway.

The bad wind seems to be over so maybe I can get some work done in the yard over the weekend. Max will be happy to see the cushions back on the lounge chairs because that's one of his favorite summertime napping spots.

    Smart dog! :)

I'm so glad the work week is over.  I'm going to make a huge effort to not stress or worry this weekend about work.  Tonight we're going out to eat and I may have a few adult beverages. :)  Tomorrow I'm having lunch with the friend that I need to have the "serious" talk with.  I hope I don't wimp out and can find the right words to say what I need to say without being too hurtful.

The weather is so gorgeous right now so I think I'll go outside and sit in a chair and enjoy it all by myself.  Who am I kidding?  There will be three dogs with their noses smushed against the sliding glass door begging to come out and join me. :)  I won't be able to resist them.

Sorry to all of those that had to work today on this lovely day. Sad Hopefully you will all have a nice weekend.

We are retired and so spent a lovely day at an agility trial. Didn't get any qualifying scores that we wanted, but it's all about fun in the end. Unfortunately though, our dog Gus strained something. Had a hard time pin pointing what it really was that was bothering him. Finally at home we figured out it is his neck. Called the vet to ask what might be a good med to start him on. Have some meds home, so thought I could do that and then see how he is in the morning. She said Tramadol would probably be the best, so have given him some of that. He is not crying out but as time goes on, you can see it is getting harder for him to want to lift his head very high. Poor boy, since when we were running today, I thought maybe he was just being bothered by the temperatures and so was trying to push him to get excited. He finally just stopped in front of a jump and just looked like, "I want to do it, I really do, just can't." So that was it, we quit. So he is pulled for the rest of the weekend and if he's worse by the morning, I'll take him to the vets. Planning on trialing with our Corey tomorrow and Sunday, but will just have to wait and see. Then I had a terrible time with my Asthma throughout the morning. Really stinks when you want to run and do and then just can't get your wind back and your legs feel like jello. I made it though and by the afternoon it was beginning to get better. Not sure if it was due to the meds finally stabilizing things or the bit of change in the weather.

Good luck to those of you that will be betting on the Derby. I'm not sure I'll even be home in time to watch it.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Jackie, no work stress is allowed on weekends. That is what Monday is for. Sitting on the porch sounds lovely but even better with dogs. I just came in from my back deck in fact and the dogs were extremely happy just laying around in the yard and deck. They didn't want to come in when I said "bed time! '

I don't know anything about horse racing either but good luck to those of you betting.

I met a couple friends tonight for the first Mtn bike ride of the year. I swear I don't remember it being so hard last year. Geez. I was feeling very wimpy and humbled. I took neiko and lily to Run along with us and they had a ball. For our 6 miles I am sure the dogs ran 12. Unfortunately, they still had energy to spare when we got home and raced around the yard for a while. I think it is time to hit toys r us for a couple new kiddie pools.
