I'll have to start texting if it means random offers of dessert will come my way!  Wink

Happy Birthday to Julie, Tina's son, Jake, Addy . . . I think that covers them all.  That drink does look tasty, but I'm already too sleepy today for alcohol this early.  I'd prefer some sugar in the form of a cupcake (with those fun sprinkles, of course)!

Last night DH worked late, so I decided to walk Ruby so he didn't have to when he got home.  Because of her leash manners, I don't walk her alone; I prefer a companion with me in case I need help distracting her and/or hanging on to the leash if she starts getting too crazy when we pass someone (she thinks everyone is a fellow wrestling playmate).  It was nearly dark and POURING, so I figured no one else would be stupid enough to be out walking.  I was right --- no one out but us and the worms.  We were drenched (despite both wearing raincoats); water was running off both our noses!  The rain takes all the insanity out of Ruby.  She walked nicely right at my side, loose leash, watching me the whole time.  I think she was just trying to tell me, "Are we going home now?  This sucks!"

Good luck at the bank, Ginger!

Sharon, you're so lucky that you and your SO agree on furniture styles/choices.  We've gone without furniture in some rooms for years because we couldn't agree on what to get.  And spending that much on something you'll have for years is too much pressure for  me!  I know I'll find something I like better right after I buy it!

I'm very grateful we're on the same page with styles for the most part. Definitely makes this process easier!

Tracy, Jake is my DS. Of course, there could be another Jake somewhere having a birthday today, so happy b'day to him, too. LOL

Windows 7 is fast. Good grief, I was trying to type an email, hit the wrong key by accident, and Outlook sent my message anyway. I couldn't even retrieve it from my outbox. It was to one of my bosses. Good thing he knows I am blonde. Confused

    Speaking of email...

Sorry if it seemed I ignored some emails from a few people here.  I just noticed that every single email I thought I'd sent today was still sitting in m outbox.  Embarrassed  No wonder no one was responding. lol  I had a lot of work emails sitting in there too and now that they've all been sent some of them won't make much sense. oh well, time to go home and regroup for tomorrow. lol

I'm pretty darn sure I just felt my first earthquake.  All of a sudden there was this rumble/rattle and the significant other says "wind has gone crazy again" (it's been very windy out today).  Me, feeling the rumbling in my rear while on the couch said, "umm that's not wind"  Didn't last long, and obviously wasn't anything big (enough to be felt) - but eeek!

Sharon, yup, it was an earthquake! Our news people got all excited and "reported without scripts"! They were actually reading from handwritten scraps of paper.

Happy birthday everyone who is celebrating today Cake

Tina, I am constantly hitting some key sequence that sends the email before I'm ready to send it with this new Windows 7. I have no idea what the sequence/combination is, and I can't figure out how to disable it.

I tried watching the debate--for almost 20 minutes. I cannot stand the arguing, so I'm watching cooking shows instead.

I saw postings from some of my friends around Boston about the earthquake. Sounds like it wasn't too bad, but definitely a surprise.

I watched video of Honey Boo Boo Child on Jimmy Kimmel from last night,  and on KTLA from yesterday. I already know who I'm voting for (Mickey Mouse in case anyone was wondering) so I don't need to see the debate.

I'm listening to the debate but doing other things and totally losing track of what they're talking about.Like AK47s and women having babies....Embarrassed

Our Board mtg was long and boring but Shane did pretty good. I ended up leashing him up and keeping him near me. Otherwise he wanted to see what everyone was eating. I'd given him a valerian and it seemed to help. He konked right out a couple times. By the time the meeting was wrapping up, he was getting restless, so I was hugely relieved to see everyone go. I'm super relieved this day is over and will sleep like a baby tonight.

Ooops, sorry Tina!  If I knew your son's name at one time, I forgot it!  I was trying to remember all the birthdays that had been mentioned in other posts, and I absent-mindedly referred to Jake and Addy after seeing them in the post immediately before mine, I guess.  Duh!  I'm brunette (over the gray, that is), so I can't use the blonde excuse.  It's just my middle-aged brain!

A couple friends and I decided we didn't want the stress of watching the debate, so we took a walk and then went to dinner at a favorite spot -- a small place that serves only tapas.  We had a salad with hazelnuts, golden raisins, and manchego (sp?) cheese, followed by a pork bocadillo with a spicy caper sauce, then seared tuna over polenta, and finally grilled prawns in some kind of garlicky olive oil glaze.  We were too full for their dessert specialty -- freshly made churros with chocolate dipping sauce.  Now I wish I had one.

After all that spicy food, I hope I don't have weird dreams tonight!

Glad to hear Shane was such a good boy, Cathy.  If the board meeting was like some of the meetings I've been to, I bet he wasn't the only one who was nodding off! Wink
