TGIF!

Okay, that's a funny job announcement!  Surely there will be lots of eager applicants!

Speaking of job applicants, I can't believe the story about your latest ex-con, er, applicant, at your place, Jackie.  Like you said, I guess some people assume employers won't do background checks.  Surely they're not stupid enough to think that an employer would do the check, and then hire someone anyway, despite that kind of history?

Insanely busy morning here (and another crisp, sunny day in the low 70's!).  I have to leave for a hair appointment in less than 2 hours, and I don't want to come back to the office, so off I go to try to finish the piles on my desk.  Happy Friday everyone!

Thanks again, Karen, for posting Ruby's pics!

So here I am - a week late as usual these days.  I went to my routine dr. appt. on Monday and just happened to mention to her that I had fallen and hurt my leg, but it was feeling so much better and I had gotten pretty good at tearing around on the cane.  She tells me she would feel so much better if I went and had an x-ray "just to be sure" so I did ... and then she tells me that I had been hobbling around on a fracture for a week Surprise and I was going directly to the ER where I'd be admitted for surgery.  Actually we (DS #2 had driven me there) went to buy dog food and then stopped at home first.  Had 3 pins put in on Tuesday night and came home yesterday with a load of equipment and can't bear any weight on my left leg for 4 to 6 weeks ... which is going to seriously cramp my lifestyle. I'm going to give my neighbor my Target red card and send her in search of a couple of pairs of those pajama type pants (that I seriously hate) because I can't get my jeans on and it's getting too chilly for shorts.  I'm sitting here with my legs freezing. It's in the low 60s which IMO is definitely jeans weather.  Someone brought a therapy dog to the hospital that looked so much like Max I thought one of the boys had smuggled him in.  His name was Sunny D and he pretty much made my day.

Glenda, I'm so so sorry to hear about Tyler. It's hard enough when they're sick and you're sort of expecting it, but to have it happen so suddenly must truly be heart wrenching.  Good thoughts and prayers coming for you and your family.

Cathy, that comment bugged the hell-o out of me too.  They never critique men about anything, but with women everything - weight, clothes, jewelry, hair - is all fair game. I loved the way she responded to it.

Wow Joyce, good call on your dr's part in sending you for an x-ray. What part of your leg was broken? I hope you have all the care you need but if there's anything I can do for you, let me know.

DH is snoozed out on the couch taking his 2nd nap of the day. I really do understand his being tired but I wish he'd go to the bedroom to nap. I feel like I have to tiptoe around and not make any noise. Plus he tends to put something he likes on tv and then clutches the remote in his sleep.

My husband does the exact same thing!  I often take it out of his hands, especially if I'm going to bed and I want to turn the TV off or at least turn it down.  If he wakes up it's only for a few seconds, then he falls asleep again (with his hand still in the "clutching" position, sans remote).

Joyce, I can't believe you were walking around with a leg fracture!  Jack Youngblood played for the LA Rams back in the 70's and early 80's.  He played in a Superbowl game with a broken leg.  I think he'd agree that you should be given an award as an honorary member of his "toughness team!"  Edited to add -- I hope you heal quickly.  It'll be hard to stay off it for so many weeks, but no cheating!  Wink
