Mindless wed

There was a guy in the gym today that was so stinky it almost made me ill. The strange thing was he was a decent looking middle aged guy in nice workout clothes. Wow though - the smell Ick!

I read an article recently about a new movement for going "green".  Limit the amount of washing you do....one of the ladies that had made a deal with her kids in regard to this particular form of conservation said she had to "change the rules" when it came to the work out clothes, lol.  After 4 days of the same workout clothes, well she said stinky was an understatement.  Maybe your gym guy is just trying to reduce his footprint, lol

It did bring back memories of living in Germany. I don't mean to sound disrespectful of Germans but I had several tell me that they thought Americans were obsessed with body odor and bathed too much. Hmm

Karen - I'm so sorry that contract didn't work out. You invested what seemed like a lot of time, energy and frustration through the whole process. I hope something else works out for you and it's a lot less complicated.

I get annoyed with this fascination with Honey Boo Boo.  Most of GA does not behave in that manner at all, so I know it's all for the money involved.  I feel very sad for that little girl...she is not only not that attractive, but she is overweight and her Mom acts like a jerk.  Sometimes these pageants serve a purpose in giving a child self confidence, but she is, in her own word, a "beauty queen."  Most pageants try to focus on a well rounded personality, rather than just beauty.  This poor little girl is being badly misled, and I really don't want to see her crash, but I know it will.

Give me HGTV, please!  I know there are faults there too, but I don't think they are faults that will hurt anyone...

Karen, I hope something works out for you soon.

I watch nothing but mindless crap, to make up for those people who only watch wholesome programming or nothing at all. Actually, this is not true at all, I'm watching World News right now on ABC. I can't stand though that my mom has constant media going on for my niece. I will turn it off if she's around. My mom on the other hand will have something going on PBS while she's showing the kid something on Youtube. Not to say that I am not on my computer with the TV going, and that I haven't been watching one thing on the TV, another on my phone, and been on the computer, but there is no reason a toddler needs that much crap going.

The fair started today, but it's raining so I think I'll wait till tomorrow to go. I can't wait for the food.

Cathy -- I've encountered a couple "stinky people" at our gym.  It's awful!  The opposite problem is almost as nauseating --- the people who drench themselves in after-shave or perfume, and then you follow their "fragrance" as you move from machine to machine.  Ick!

I don't have anything against watching TV --- I watch too much!  I just don't understand the draw of "reality shows" that spotlight people with no discernible talent (being super rich like the Kardashians or really poor like the Boo Boo family isn't talent, even if they're train-wrecks to watch).  I like reality TV to offer more, like a singing or dancing competition, or tips for homeowners, decorators, cooks (yes, HGTV is on a lot at our house).  I also love silly sit-coms, edgy dramas, and many PBS mysteries and mini-series.  TV is one of my favorite past times!

My friend went for years without cable -- just 3 or 4 channels with very poor reception.  There may be something to NOT watching TV because she learned 3 foreign languages (including writing and speaking Chinese), she does amazing watercolors and calligraphy projects, she reads voraciously, gardens, stays fit with hikes and outdoor activities, etc.   It can make TV watchers like me feel like lazy slugs by comparison!!

Thanks ladies - I have a bunch of little things but this was a very VERY well paying full time for 3-4 months gig. It would have been long hours but I think fairly interesting. I actually 'get' why they went with this other person but don't 'get' why knowing what they needed and what my areas are the strung me along.

Anyway, I'll just keep plugging away at the smaller bits. Unfortunately its exhausting for me (may be not others) to constantly be doing a bit here and a bit there and searching for new bits.

I hate mosquitoes and no-see-ums! I just went outside for a few minutes and have about a dozen welts on my legs!

We don't have no-see-ums out here and I'd never heard of them until I lived in Georgia for awhile but yeah, they're nasty. They've been talking about an increae of cases of West Nile Virus but I haven't even seen many mosquitoes this year. Yay for that.

There's a fire that just started buring this afternoon and it's not far from us. We're not in any kind of danger or anything but I know a lot of people that live up where it's at. Hopefully they can get a handle on in quickly.

I tend to be more Pollyanna than most people but doesn't it seem like things are pretty crappy these days? Between the nationwide drought, the price of gas and everything else and then to hear that things will cost even more because of the drought...it just seems like a lot of bad news these days. Sad

A few years ago, my TV didn't work. It was great. I occasionally watched movies, and if I really wanted to see something, I'd go to a friend's house. I never sat at home by myself watching tv. After about a year, I had enough money saved up to spend on a TV, and I've been back to watching nonsense ever since. It was a while ago, before I could drive I think, and when the flat screen tvs were just coming out, so my tiny thing cost a few hundred dollars and took me a while to save for. I could have something huge now for the price I paid for it. I think the biggest TV in our house is only 26". For the price of that thing, also bought at the beginning of flat screens, we could have a giant TV. None of ours have obvious dead pixels though, which seems to occur on all the newer ones.

You know, if you filmed my family for a week and then cut it down to 42 minutes of footage, you could make us look nuts too.

Jen, you've got a great point ---- that may be true for many of us!  When I think of the bickering we've done during our carpet and tile project, it's similar to some of the scenes on reality TV!  Tongue Tied

Karen, what you said about doing bits here and there while looking for new bits and how frustrating that is -- reminds me of something my sister says often.  She's a real estate agent, and she gets so frustrated when she spends hours and hours working with clients who are interested in buying a home -- phone calls, emails, researching properties, driving them all over town, etc.  Then after all that, they tell her they've decided to postpone buying for another year.  All that work, only to have nothing to show for it, while at the same time, she's trying to keep irons in the fire for other potential work.  It's a real struggle, especially where she lives.

I hope something great falls into place for you soon!
