I bought a new waterproof camera that is good to 30 ft. I hate those disposable ones, they take such lousy photos. I couldn't take it on my scuba dives though becasue we were down btwn 60' and 70'. Next time I go, I will buy a case so I can take that camera diving.

Yeah, a couple people planned the trip then opened it up to anyone on the board that wanted to go. We met up at various airports in the US and arranged it so we would all arive and depart belize around the same time so nobody had to travel alone in a foreign country. It worked out really nicely.

What a great collection of photos, Jan!  Thanks for posting them here.  As a non-Facebook user, I would've missed them otherwise!

I love the tiny little crabs -- so cute!  The iguana was cool, but to come upon one unexpectedly would startle me for sure!  I also like how you got so many pics of funny signs.  Maybe I don't want to know the answer, but what is a Chicken Drop?!

It looks like a real tropical vacation -- that hotel right on the sand!  You all look great with your tans, brightly painted toes, and beach wear.  Loved the seashells, palm trees, white sand, etc.  In Oregon, all you ever see at the beach are people bundled up in layers (rarely do you see tanned skin), a broken shell or two, fir trees, wind, etc.  I could almost feel the warmth of sun on my face and sand in my toes when I looked at your photos!  It's been years since I've been on a beach like that.

Sounds like you had an awesome trip!

I just looked at Jan's photos -- and these photos are awesome, too!  I love the sad faced fish -- poor guy -- you can almost hear an Eeyore voice coming from him.  And the Dori fish is cute!  I'd freak out if I saw sharks and eels -- and even though the rays are cool, I'd be afraid of them, too, after knowing how Steve Irwin died.  But I'm a wimp -- so looking at photos like yours are better for me!  Wink

It's so cool that you guys arranged the trip together.  You'll have some special memories of it for the rest of your lives.  Thanks for posting your photos!

Edited to add that I would have loved to see those ruins.  That kind of stuff really gets to me -- seeing/touching things that other people touched so many years ago . . . and knowing they built them without power tools and advances we have today.  Just incredible.

Maybe I don't want to know the answer, but what is a Chicken Drop?!

LOL!!  It's THE event on the island each Thursday.  There's a big board on the ground with numbered squares.  They pick a tourist (usually a kid) to do the honors of placing the chicken on the board.  That person must also blow up the chicken's butt for good luck.  Whatever number square the chicken poops on, wins.  People place bets beforehand.  The lucky winner gets $100 and gets to clean up the chicken poop!

It was really crowded so we just went inside the bar there and played on the swings in that one picture. Big Smile

Oh, that's not too bad.  Sounds like an interesting version of a roulette wheel.  I was imagining something with chickens being dropped from certain heights to see if they'd fly or something like that!  It sounds like no chickens are hurt in the process, so that's good!  Tongue Tied

Gorgeous pics you guys -- like someone said "lifetime memories".  One time millions of years ago a friend and I took a tiny cruise off Long Island Sound on an old converted whaler.  It is some of my best memories EVER -- and the planning can sometimes be almost as much fun as the 'doing'.  That rocks that you guys got to do that!!  Good for you!!

Thanks for posting all these pics Janice and Julie! It was truly a trip of a lifetime. Callie, you're right, planning was a blast. It was so surreal when we first got there.

I agree with everyone who said that it looks like a good time was had by y'all.  Special interest to me is Heather wearing the necklace I donated to the PHR auction.  It sure looks better on her than it ever did on me.  Wear it in good health!
