TGIF Chatter!

No offense taken, Glenda -- I was just noting my laziness about working in the yard, as well as my aversion to getting really dirty on a regular basis (yes, I'm a bit OCD)!  The fact that I'm not an adventuresome veggie eater limits my gardening scope, too.  I can enjoy my beautiful hosta garden, without feeling the pressure to eat any of them before they start to decompose!  Tongue Tied

The way you describe what gardening does for your soul and peace of mind is exactly how one of my dearest friends describes her love of gardening.  In fact, when I first met her, she lived next door to us, and I was amazed at how much time she spent digging in her garden without gardening gloves on!  She said she loves to feel the dirt and plants in her hands because it connects her directly to the earth.  I told her it makes me want to connect with a good fingernail brush!  Big Smile

I didn't mean to offend anyone.  I just said that I love to grow my own stuff

It's great that you do. I was simply pointing out why some of us don't. You don't have to rationalize anything - to each her own.

For the record, I am very good at growing weeds. Cool

I will post some pics this weekend since I plan on doing nothing but relaxing and watching olympics.

Being back at work sucks! ;p I finally got through all of my mail, voice mail and emails. Now I would just like to go home. My brain hasn't recovered enough for me to do a lot of deep thinking, plan reviewing and so forth. Hmm, since it is 4pm maybe I will skip out an hour early and make the time up next week.

ETA, they made really weird watermelon drinks in Belize. They put chunks of watermelon into a blender and mixed it up with alcohol. You would think that would be good, but it just tasted funny. It was thick and kind of grainy.

I'm not even good at growing weed.  Rick is the gardener around here.  He's grown all kinds of plants.  Early Girl tomatoes are my fave.  This season, we had some beautiful grapes, both green and purple.  The raccoon (oh I must tell you this story, another time) loved the grapes.  He hasn't had a garden, though in a few years.  Well, I guess since Heidi joined us.

Paige, that bracelet is going to be very well received, I'm sure...and you are right...good a time as any.  There will be tears.  But, the heart will be full.  Sweet.

Those toes are fabulous!  I loved looking at all the pictures on facebook of the Belize trip!  I'm so tickled that you guys made the trip.  Good times, I'm sure.  Do it again!

Nicole, one day you will sleep again.  One day.  Smile

Kitty, I'm so sorry to hear your job search is not going well.  I'm sure a good one will come along soon.  What kind of work are you doing?

Deb, OMG.  We are making this tonight!

In honor of Barb, here's my Friday Tiki Bar contribution:

SOOO, if you read my post about the doctor giving me the GO to walk yesterday, you have to know how excited I was.  However, as everyone in my life knows...I tend to get slightly overexcited.  Yes, he told me not to use the wheeler any more and to start bearing weight right away.  Well, I am not ready to just go gung ho and walk unassisted, so we pulled out my Mom's walker and I used that all afternoon and evening.  Still, that was uncomfortable and I was all tense and started straining my knee in the process.  Sigh.  The problem is I could start affecting other parts of my body and creating other problems if I'm not careful.

This walking thing is just not as easy as I thought it would be.  Last evening, I wanted to go outside and throw the ball and walk around the house and do the dishes, take a bubble bath, blah blah blah.  Nope, not ready.

I went to physical therapy today, and it seems that my incision tore open ever so slightly.  Sad  Nothing to really worry about as far as infection or worse...its just obvious that I need to slow my over excited butt down.  I did, however just use a cane today which seemed to help with the knee strain.   But, this is just hard.  Longest.Recovery.Ever.

Barb, that sucks! I have all the sympathy in the world for the position you are in. Your brain wanting to recover faster than your body. But make sure you don't mess anything else up in the process. You will get there.

    Ditto that!

Ha!  I just showed Rick the Walking Margarita recipe.  He said that looks really good....but you are just relearning how to walk.

Um...guess we won't be having that goodie tonight.  Hmph!  Crying

Great news about Twister feeling perkier.

Barb, sorry the recovery is going slower than you hoped it would.  Just take it slow and easy so you don't damage anything else.

Julie, I hope you get some ear relief soon.

Why do things that should be so simple wind up so over complicated?  Foolishly in Home Depot Sunday I took the saleman's word that the fridge I wanted was 33-1/2" wide.  Should have measured it myself.  When they brought it, the guy said he couldn't bring it in because it was 35-1/2" so I told him to just leave on the truck and take it back.  There I was with the old fridge all emptied out and stuff crammed in the little laundry room fridge and spread out here and there, so I went to a small appliance store in Woodland and voila!  They had what I needed and got it delivered in less than 2 hrs.  All is good and I have ice again.

Well, the bad news is that another reporter and I didn't even get close to the governors estate and the $20,000 per plate fundraiser that Michelle O'Bama was attending.  The good news is that the Secret Service agent was polite, respectful, let us take his picture and nobody shot us.

Julie or Jan, can one of you post that picture of the 4 of you where you wrote idog 2012 in the sand?

We have pics of us posing with our sand art, but I don't want to post it without everyone's permission.

    Permission granted. Paradise

I'm still up to my eyeballs in to-do stuff, but at least I've gotten a bunch of laundry done and went grocery shopping. I have to turn into a white tornado tomorrow morning and get the whole house cleaned up before my friend gets here.
