     Hope Jackie's kitty is fine

    Glad Paige's ultrasound was normal

Hmmmm what are those planes doing near you Lisa

I too, am Cathy's version of a minimalist so if you want nothing left, I am sure to be a help

Feels like its been ages since I've seen the sun. As a guess it was last Sunday when it was 106* I am truly tired of overcast, super humid and everything being wet. The only thing thriving are the blasted June bugs.

I'll finish with a feel good story: A while back (18-24 mos as a guess) I wrote about Bugsy & I being charged by an unsocialized golden. It turned out he had attacked various people and dogs and his owner was given a warning before the dog came at us. Bugsy just stared at him while I was yelling at the golden to stop/no/etc. Once I noticed that B wasn't going to react at all I calmed and let the dogs figure it out. The golden's male owner came out and gave some lame excuse. I just said he was lucky B didn't retaliate.

The female owner must have gotten a trainer or taken him to classes and I saw her out walking him (never happened before). The first time we saw them was about a month after the incident and she apologized and was thankful I was so calm about it. Again I said I took my cue from B. We let the dogs meet and Scooby did fine.

Since then we might run into her/them every few months and I always make a point of letting the two dogs meet - no one else does apparently and I want to reward the owner and Scooby for working on socializing him.

Anyway the feel good part is that whenever she sees us out walking (while she is driving) she waves so enthusiastically and/or stops and says hi as if I were her best friend. It makes me happy to think that B & I have been helpful to her and Scooby when they are both really trying to change their ways. I am hopeful that others have forgiven Scooby and give him a chance.

That is a great story, Karen.  As someone who has a high-energy dog who's still learning proper leash walking behavior, I understand why that woman is so friendly in her greetings and interactions with you.  Not that Ruby has ever charged a dog in a threatening way -- she just thinks every dog she meets wants to begin an immediate game of rowdy play -- but the people we meet on walks who are willing to spend a few minutes getting her calmed down so we can make introductions (to them and/or their dogs or kids) are valuable resources for us, and we're very grateful when we run into such folks!

With a name like "Scooby," he's got to end up being a fun playmate, right?!

I wouldn't mind helping clean out your storage unit, Paige.  I lean towards the purging method that Cathy described, although I save some things I don't like because they were gifts from people and I feel guilty if I get rid of them (and they come to my house and don't see them displayed or used).  Hey -- maybe you'll find something super valuable in there that you forgot about -- like that guy who found the baseball card collection in an attic or somewhere -- it's worth a few million bucks!

Lisa, I'd be very nervous about those jets flying near your office.  I hope it's nothing to worry about!

My coworker just suggeted a walk to Baskin Robbins for lunch break.  Guess what my answer was?

DS heard the tail end of something on CNN today about a dog virus that's popping up all over the country.  Anyone heard anything about this?

LOL Scooby is VERY old and has some physical issues that prevent him from much other than a gentle walk. I should say that when he charged us he came flying out of the house, really aggressively. It was not just a leash reactive moment. I will never know why B was completely unimpressed with Scooby's attack but he just stood there looking at him while I was fairly worried. Anyway I always feel happy when this woman waves.

Ruby I am glad that some people stop to let you say hi!  We would Big Smile

yum I hope you get a few nice flavors

That's a great story, Karen.  Kudos to you and B for being such a good influence.  I completely forgot what I was going to say.  Back to work where I can think of ice cream and dream of cold blue MI lakes and mess up who knows what. lol

I remembered but I'm too lazy to delete the above.

Glenda, maybe he heard something about canine influenza.  There is a vaccine, though I dont get it for my dogs.  It's the doggie flu.  Most healthy dogs will not have any problems with it, other than feeling sick, just like people.  Older dogs or dogs in bad health sometimes have a harder time and pneumonia is a complication, just like with people.

Karen great story!  WTG B...you knew that the ole' guy was just not happy about the stinkin leash :)

Cathy and Karen, I need you both at my house!!! STAT!!!.   You guys come and clear things out and bring B and Shane so Me and my boys can play with them.  Wink  My only problem is.....I am trying to clear things out and it would be easier if I could just take everything to Goodwill or something but right now I need some mooolah!  Still trying to save enough money to replace the heat pump.  I could have a garage sale but not many go well out in our neck of the woods (literally...I live in the country).  I have been trying to eliminate some stuff with Craigslist and a couple of local sites like it.   If you came to my house tho you would prolly have an anxiety attack if you are a neat nik.   We are recovering collectors, lol, which means I am tired of dusting all the stuff we have collected in the last 27 years.

    Jackie hope KittyG is ok.

    Fingers crossed for you, Karen.

Coconut has some kidney problems which is pretty common in older cats.  Hopefully some diet changes will help him.  He's a sweet old thing and I hope he can be around a while longer.

    Definately fingers crossed...

I love love love American Pickers and I have actually considered calling in an auction guy we know  to see if there is anything he can unload for us.

We had about 1/2 inch of rain last weekend but none in the forecast for a while.  I will take your rain and raise you some sunshine and fluffy clouds Wink

I am jealous of all of the rain you guys are getting, i drove by a wetland preserve on my way home yesterday and it was bone dry :( this place is a natural protected bird area. It was sad to see them standing in nothing but mud.

They changed our access from our phones to work yet again and I am screwed...again. I hate when they do this stuff. *annoyed*!

Jackie , I hope eveything is ok with your kitty.

Edited to correct multiple spelling errors as a result of posting with my phone!

    Prayers for your kitty Jackie!

Thank you all, looks like I'll have to wait until Monday to get more details.

Julie despite all the storms and rain we are very dry. The lake is crazy low and the mill area I go to is too. In fact the area the beavers live was a swamp, with about 8-12 inches of water in Spring. Now it is all grown over with a tiny are that is mud, no water at all. We had finally cleared the drought (2+ yrs) in May and we are right back in it now.

Good thoughts for Coconut and I love that name. Good thoughts for you too Karen. Sorry you have to wait to hear anything. Totally mindless this evening but thankful it's Friday.
