Can't believe it's the last day of June.  2012 is flying by!

isn't that the truth?  Half the year is gone already.  It seems like only yesterday I was packing away Christmas decorations and pretty soon it's going to be time to get them out again. Actually, the 5 ft. Santa is still in the living room Tongue Tied but I did put a couple of flags in his hands and gave him an Uncle Sam hat, so I guess he's "seasonal."

That's really sad about the dove.  Is there any way to keep that from happening?  Like maybe some decals on the window or something?

Today we're having some pretty balmy weather for this neck of the woods.  I think it's still only in the high 70s. I don't think it's the high temps that wipe people out, but rather the combination of heat and humidity.  Not a good combination IMO.

I can't believe that it's the end of June either! It sucks actually. I turn 40 this fall and am seriously dreading it. I wish we could turn back the clock.

Cathy, I will trade you sun for rain.

I didnt give abbie the pain killer yesterday and she was back to limping again today. We have training tomorrow then I am going to bed rest her for at least a week. That will be fun ;p

Oh you poor, poor thing. I have a son that's older than you are - he was 41 in March. Think of it this way ... it beats the hell-o out of the alternative. Big Smile

So true Joyce. Julie I found turning 40 liberating, strange because I've always been a free spirit but I became more outspoken at 40

Apparently no temp is too hot to stop Bugsy from watching over steaks on the grill lol. He just came in and flopped onto the floor, panting like a fool but not until the steaks came in too!

Forty?  Great time of life if you ask me.Smile I felt at my prime in my forties.  I turn sixty this year but I don't plan to feel any different after than I did the day before. lol  Other than a possible hangover from celebrating. Big Smile

We're a nice mild 86 degrees here.  We almost got some rain showers but just missed us.  It's really pleasant outside for this time of year.

I have no idea what's for dinner.  I think we'll have to forage.

can't you ladies see that I am going thru a mid life crisis here? Lol no sympathy geez ;p

I felt liberated in my 30s, approaching 40, I just feel depressed heh. I am sure it will pass and yeah, it is better than the alternative ;p

    What a goof bugsy is.

My dinner today was pbj. Very exciting. But, I had a grilled steak for lunch. Yum

Squeak squeak squeak squeak....this is all I have been hearing for the last half hour. Someone tell neiko that it is too hot to play fetch.

Joyce, that's so funny --- it reminds me of my aunt who got tired of hauling her artificial Christmas tree down to the cellar every year.  So, she left it up year-round and decorated with seasonal things -- hearts and cupid ornaments for Valentine's Day, Easter eggs and bunnies, flags, etc.  We kids thought it was awesome!

My neighbor has some reflective ribbon tied across his picture window -- but once in a while a bird still hits it.  It's a huge window, he has a very bird-friendly garden, and it's in a main flight path apparently.  Also, these doves are so young that when they get startled, they sort of flutter up a few feet to find cover, so they're flying is clumsy I think.

Jewliee, I'll give you some sympathy.  I'm far closer to 50 than 40, but I've never felt all the positive things that people say when you reach milestone birthdays.  When I turned 40, I threw myself a party and in lieu of gifts, I collected items needed at our local animal shelter.  That kept things fairly festive, but it still freaked me out to think I was 40.  Now when I think about turning 50, I think about how old that seemed when me and my friends had parents that age.  I see the aging in my face, I feel it in my body everyday, and I don't think I'm doing anything better than I did when I was younger.  Clearly, I'm not flourishing!  Tongue Tied  I need to adopt DH's attitude -- he's looking forward to turning 50 this year, says it's only a number, has no issues with aging (despite having plenty of wrinkles and grey hair and some aches and pains).  I need to practice his line of thinking!

Not too much interesting stuff here today. I took Callie out for a walk with one of my meetups, well, it was only me and one other person. It was too hot for Luke. I usually go with a different group, but I like this group better, especially for Callie. Everyone actually stays on leash, and no flexis, except today when we let them go in the water. Then Callie got a flexi, and the other dog got off leash. Callie's not bad, but she can pull and get a little crazy with off leash dogs because I don't let mine off leash. The rules at all the parks require leashes, but they generally aren't enforced. Apparently, she only actually swims with Luke. She kept going all the way out until she would get her feet off the ground, then coming back.

Work was okay, but too hot in that house. All of our brains were just fried for the last 30-45 minutes, but we got done. I can't wait till next weekend. I'm seeing this kid a ton since he's off from school. He goes back the week after next. I love him, but eventually, we've had enough of each other. We're not there yet, but by next Sunday, we'll have seen enough of each other for a break.

My friend and I found a Twistee Treat stand. I got a Sundae with Fried Nutter Butter.... I really did not need to know about this place.

All this talk about how old you guys are has me thinking about what I should get myself for my birthday. New iPad would definitely be something high ranking on the list of potential gifts. But, one of the other potential gifts to myself is a tattoo. It's some text I've been thinking of getting for a while. I just can't think of how exactly it would look, and where it should go.

We used to have a light up Penguin for the yard for Winter. We've put him out there in other seasons and decorated him appropriately. We do lights on the house for any excuse. The penguin has had hearts, and shamrocks, and Halloween decorations on him. We've actually really messed with people for Halloween. We get pretty crazy around here with the Halloween decorations, not TV worthy, but crazy for this neighborhood. People would take pictures in front of our yard. A few times, they took the picture, then they looked at the picture on the camera, they'd notice this out of place penguin in there.

Gosh, I'm missing Mike tonite.  Wishing I still had time to make up for the mistakes that all parents make.  We'd talked about it, but still, I want to make it better and there isn't time to do it now.  Feeling like a fragile old lady tonite and don't like it one bit....
