    Hello, and welcome!!!!

Your dogs are beautiful, and so are the photos!!  Were they taken by a professional photographer??

I would love to start to get my dog into dock jumping, but I don't know of any resources.  If you could point some out to me that would be great!

Hey Sarah, who do you train herding with?  Do you go to USBCHA style trials?  Your dogs are lovely and the mushing is way cool.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I completely forgot I posted here.... I promise to reply faster from now on. Thank you all for the welcomes and compliments! Let's see if I can answer everyone's questions - if I missed any just let me know.

My second graders and I followed the Iditarod last year...would love to use you as a resource for them when they do it this year!

That is awesome! Having children follow such an amazing event in an incredible sport is the way to go. Dogsledding (and dogs in general) can teach us all so much. Teamwork, responsibility, patience.... the list is endless! Thank you for helping your students get a great start in life.

P.S. Where's the picture of the Lab?...I'm partial to that breed!

Here is a ;picture of 'Little' Bear the Lab. He's the old man of the bunch (15 years old), the gentle giant. Gotta love that face!

Wow, fabulous pictures!  I didn't realise Border Collies had the pulling-power to do sledding.  Do they take to it naturally?

Thanks! My BCs absolutely love it! Kinda like working sheep, it's another job. The Border Collie is a remarkable breed that never fails to amaze me. Running a 6-dog puppy team without experienced dogs (they are all littermates) was no easy task, but we made it through, and with excellent results!

Is dock jumping a competitive sport?

Yes! It is sooo much fun. My main jumper, Chord, made finals in just his second event a month ago with a jump of 20'1"! We have high hopes for that boy and a few of the others too.

I just remembered...the one I watched is called the "Big Air" competition!

Yes, there are two categories. Extreme Vertical (EV) is where you see how high the dog can jump off the dock, and Big Air is where you see how far they can jump. I look forward to starting EV with Chord at our next event; it looks like a lot of fun!

Nope, I took the photos, and will have more posted soon! Thanks so much for the compliments.

Sure, just go to [linkhttp://www.dockdogs.com/]www.dockdogs.com[/link] for events, clubs, etc, and even a message board where you can ask questions. Everything you need to get started!

Yes, we will be participating in USBCHA style trials, since my dogs are ABCA registered. Unfortunately we haven't been able to trial yet. They are still young at 2 years old, so we plan to start trialing next year - something we really look forward to!

great dogs...i have a bc mix myself...i think gus would like sledding..but it doesn't snow enough in kentucky
    • Silver
Gus is adorable! There are a lot of options if you don't get enough snow. We hardly got any this season, so we used our 3-wheeled cart called a rig. You can also bikejor or scooter with 1-3 dogs, and even canicross (running behind a dog in harness)! I actually know a musher from Kentucky. With 3 inches of snow and just one dog you can easily enjoy the wonderful world of skijoring! If you have any questions, feel free to ask away. Best of luck.
