What is the Best Size Dog type?

My current dog is about 50 pounds.  My last dog was about 50 pounds.  It seems a good size for us.  They were both big enough to not get stepped on, but small enough to fit on the bed, and in the backseat of the car, when the kids are there, too.

I love big dogs! I know this isn't right for everybody, but in my opinion their the best because you can give them big hugs. My dog is about 80 lbs, an Irish Wolfhound/ Airdale Terrier mix. He doesn't realize his size. It's funny to seem him try to squeeze into our cat's bed. Irish Wolfhound's are known as the "gentle giants." They're really big, but very calm. We have two smaller dogs, 15 and 25 lbs, and our large one is very gentle when he plays with them.

I always had what I considered small dogs (30 - 35 lbs.) and then I got Max. He seemed like such a huge beast by the time he was 6 mo. old [:D] but now he's grown and at 63 lbs. he doesn't seem all that big at all - he's my puppers. [:)] I guess it just depends on what you get used to.

Me? I like large, beefy - well muscled dogs. So I think they are the best for me but I also love Pomeranians and they are tiny.. I don't think it is so much a question of the size of the dog as it is a question of the personality and requirements of the dog.

I personally like medium to large dogs, but not TOO large.

    I'll take one of each![:D]

Cory weighs in at 45 lbs - medium sized dog
Kane weighs in at 70 lbs - larger sized dog
Kobi will have max weight of 10 lbs (currently 2 lbs) - smaller sized dog

That is the order I got them too. I love big dogs, but I got Cory while living in an apartment and had to have a dog that fit that lifestyle. Now that we live in a house with a yard, I finally have my big boy, Kane. Housetraining was much harder with him. He was very smart about catching on, but when he did have accidents, they were big dog accidents. I also recently brought home our newest addition, Kobi who is very small. I decided several months ago that I wanted to solidify my pack with a third dog. The plan was to adopt another pit/mix that needed a home. However, I stumbled across Kobi and fell in love. He is a delicate little dog, but he has a HUGE personality.

They all have pros and cons, but in the long run it's their wonderful personalities that I love![:)]

I would love love love love a large dog. I wanted a St.Bernard or a Great Prynees.
    We have a 6pound pom..who I couldn't live without now.
Guess it all depends on the puppy.

Giant all the way..i find it very hard to imagine myself owning a dog under 100lbs...although their ARE exceptions chloe is 65lbs and my frst dog was 12lbs ..and of course the powerful muscular dogs, the APBTs of course are top on that list  (the REAL pit bulls, not those giant fat blue hippo beasts [:@;)

For me, temperament is the most important thing.  I like dogs of all sizes. [:)]

Of course, there are other things to consider - since I live with 1 large and 1 medium size dog already, as well as my 3 rowdy little brothers, a toy dog would not be the best fit for my family.

I like big, big, and bigger. lol. I don't know why. I've always loved large breed dogs.

Right now I have a Rottweiler x. I was at a Great Dane rescue and would of adopted one if I could of reached my husband to talk to him about it. [:@]
