reason to have a well-behaved dog

Oh, no I can't imagine anyone in CA moving HERE!  Pleeeez. . .I'm trying to get DH to move there!  I've been dreaming about it for a loooong time. . . sunny CA, warm all the time, walks no matter what time of year, sun at Christmas, etc, etc,  [:)]

Wow. I would love to be able to do that. But I get evil stares from people in Petco or PetSupplies Plus when I take Prince with me like he is some vicious Doberman. So I doubt I would be able to take him to BB&B, OfficeMax, etc without being asked to leave. [:(]

The local walmart here actually wouldn't allow a woman who had a seizure dog into the store.

Isn't it a law that service animals have to be allowed to accompany their owners everywhere?

I have ony tried a couple of times and have been asked to leave my dog at the door.  I tried with Duke (when he only weighed 3 lbs) at Walmart & Home Depot and I was carrying him.  Oh well, I haven't tried since, I am too scarred!

I'm with you - I get the "who brought that evil thing in here?" looks.  She's better behaved than most kids - maybe they should be excused from the store, too.

I also live in New England and I doubt any stores would let my dog in.  It's a liability issue, I imagine.  If your dog bites someone in the store (yeah, right, but still), then the store is liable.  I presume that supercedes any peeing concerns.  The only surprising place (non-animal related) where my dog is actually ENCOURAGED to come in, is my hair salon.  Strange, but they like dogs and insist that I bring her in.

WOW! I never realized how incredibly lucky I am to be living in such a dog-friendly town!!  I've never met anyone who gave me a dirty look or otherwise implied that I was unwelcome.  Even customers who are shocked to see a dog in the store and not particularly in love with dogs are friendly enough.  And mostly the other customers want to come over and pet them.

I may have to rethink the whole "I want to move somewhere else" idea (it's a dog-friendly but also obnoxious student-heavy town)

I'll vote for that, dogs allowed, Kids are not.

I also take my dog everywhere except where there is food involved. I carry her and have never had a negitive comment. I guess if I had a bad experience I would leave her home. I like to take her with me and in the summer I can't leave her in the hot car, so I take her in and hope everyone understands that.
