Excellent news. Though I just had a picture in my head of a special wheelchair for doggies as they wheel them out of the hospital, ala humans.

but what is the recovery process like?

rest, no rough housing..yeah right, 7 month old puppy..no rough housing..ROFL!!!
The Ortho wants me to limit his pain meds so he knows not to attempt to run and jump. Teddys favorite thing is chasing EVERYONE through the house and jumping on and off the sofa...even with the splint on his leg he was attempting that!!

I will be picking him up in the morning and he will be in work withme unless he doesn't settle then I will bring him home and put him in his crate in my room.
I can't wait to pick up the lil snookers.

Ewin0210, pano was one of the first things I asked abot when he went to the vet.  Irish setters are prone to HOD but neither vet thought that was it.  I have been searching the net for weeks now and it is mind numbing, his symptoms fit such a broad range of diseases.  He fits most of the symptoms of a tick-born disease but all of the bloodwork came back negative.  He has been on anti-inflamatory for the joint pain but they aren't really doing much good.  he did have x-rays which showed some deterioration on three bones in his sternum.  Our vet is really at a loss.  She said it could be some form of rare cancer but she will have to send out his bw for a specialist to look at.  So we are basically taking it day by day right now.  He has good days and bad and we have them with him.  The vet is going to call Friday and see how he is doing and decide where to go from there.  We are just hoping it's not cancer, he's still a baby.  I will keep ya posted. Sorry for hijacking your thread, Jaime![sm=uhoh.gif]

I'm late to this thread, too.  I'm sorry you're having such an overwhelming week.  It seems things kind of happen in waves like that.  We had a period of time last summer like you're describing - health problems for Tonka, bypass surgery for MIL followed by her relocation across 3 states, and 2 cousins and their 3 dogs moving in with us while waiting for housing for a month.  I thought I'd go insane.

But, it sounds like a major obstacle has passed with the surgery behind you - here's to continued good news with a smooth recovery and some calmer days for all of you!

Late too, but hopefully things will start looking up. Good vibes, good vibes!

Can't believe I missed this last night!  Drat BF for needing the computer!  Glad to hear surgery went well!  That was probably the turning point.  From now on things will just get better!  Pete, hope you find some answers soon and all is good.

Late to this one too. [:(] Sorry! I'm glad he came through the surgery OK. Just wanted you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you, and all of the doggies, and your family. Sounds like you've had an abundance of stuff you didn't need right now.

To everyone who's had a crappy week, hugs and love, and prayers.

Pete, no worries...I hope you will get some answers and relief too! Hate it when you can't find the problem or the solution! Good vibes and prayers headed north to you!

Thanks again for all the good vibes and well wishes. I am headed out of the office now to go pick up the lil stinker. I will rest easy once I get my hands on him. I had a horrible night...couldn't sleep and actually got into work at 7:30!!!! That NEVER happens...LOL!
I will give an update when I get back with him.

Whew - what awful luck!  Hope things get better soon.  Hate hearing about Teddy and Cage.  I'll be praying that Teddy has a quick and easy recovery from surgery and that Cage's problem is 'only' an infection and easily treatable!

Jamie  how is everybody doing you especially, because I know you are taking care of everyone else, and who's taking care of you woman.

Teddy is getting along well, he doesn't think the surgery OR the splint on his leg should be holding him back. I've had to re-wrap the leg FIVE times as it keeps slipping down from him trying to pull when he is out on lead to potty.

Cage is not doing any better, in fact he is getting worse, still eating but not gaining any weight and getting thinner. The antibiotics seem to be working on the infection but not him getting better. The results of his bloodwork have come back to lead to that it is more then an infection and our vet wants him in for an x-ray. I fear my thoughts of cancer are what is going on as his lines are similar to what my Sonny's were.
He doesn't seem to be in pain but he surely isn't himself. He will be at the vets on Monday.

Debbie, I'm holding up OK. Thanks for thinking of me Dustin is keeping a close eye on me and making sure I am taking care to eat and keep up on my meds
