Puppy has learned how to unlock crate!!!

Holy cow, Jasmine has never escaped from her crate, in almost 2 years of living with us!

Yeah, it's not a carabiner, but it's shaped like one and it has a screw where the spring clip is. That's what works with our inconveniently smart pooches. They'd get a carabiner open in a minute.

Climbing carabiners have screw covers on them, on top of a spring loaded clasp.

Unless the dog has thumbs...no way he getting it open.

It sounds as iff your baby is trying to tell you that he doesnt like being locked up in a cage??? Can i ask why you cage him? [sm=happy.gif]

There are a few different type of clip devices, one is a Quick Link, and the other, a Spring Hook (or Caribiner)

This Quick Link actually screws closed - very difficult for an animal without opposable thumbs to open...

And the Spring Hook, which opens and closes rather easily.  Both are used as rigging hardware, but to keep a crate open/closed, either will work just fine, and can be picked up at any hardware store for about $1.00USD

The top one is the one that Sofia *can't* undo. The bottom one is very easy.

It's confusing because we were calling two different types of connectors "carabiners."
