Here's the reverse - I stopped for gas on my way home from a show yesterday. A beautiful small intact pittie boy (looked like a little tiger) walked up to me at the pump. I looked around thinking "Who does this dog belong to, letting him walk around such a busy place next to an even busier road?" Long story short, this other girl had the same thought and after checking with everyone around, she decided to take it to the local shelter.
She knew nothing about dogs, but she was determined to get him to safety. Since I was 2 hours from home with my own dog in the car, I decided she was the better option. I checked online to be sure it was no-kill shelter first, while that sweet little thing cuddled up next to me, gently taking treats and being the biggest sweatheart. He could have easily stolen my heart if I stayed there much longer.
Eventually he made it into the car, on to the shelter and hopefully on to a loving home Otherwise, if his owners are found they're taught about identification and better containment. Smooches to the Pitties!
