Spite - does it exist?

At our old house there was a small hole going under the back fence and when a cat would be in the yard I would open the door for Kayla who would chase after them and they always went right through that hole.

After a while each time this happened she would poop right in the hole!  I though it was the funniest thing I had ever seen... but thats more like marking territory I think, but very funny.

I don't know if it's spite, but it sure seems like it.  Lady's owner left her with us and I believe that she is ANGRY.  She gets into the garbage and pees in random places if we don't keep her confined when we aren't around.  I think she thinks that if she misbehaves enough, her mom will come back.  [&:]

That's not spite. That's a dog that doesn't know how to behave, when left alone.

Mine have to be confined, as well. They're not spiteful, they're dogs:)

Or, Lady may just be acting that way out of stress and anxiety... which of course are very different from spite and malice.
