- Do you have any names in mind for future dogs?

Years ago when I handled customer service calls for an airline I used to amuse myself by writing down interesting names. I have lists and lists of these. They are divided into catagories, and have come in quite handy when naming pets!

I like really unusual names, but DH does not. He named Shaq (I really, really wanted him to be Bogart or Tank), but I got to pick his AKC name. We named Marley together in the car the day we got her. (Bob Marley CD was playing) I named all of our cats (Blanco, Sudah, Bishop, Bagee) and our bird (Capri).

I am Swedish and my  husband is French Canadian, so we like names that work in both Swedish and French (and English!)   And I like people names.    So our list is short:

    Bianca
    Natalia
    Milla

I named one of the dogs my parents have Lucy because of a Tori Amos song (I was in high school!) and I named my cat Robin Stone because of Robin Stone in one of the trashy but completely amazing Jacqueline Susann books (The Love Machine).  Louise's name doesn't have a story behind it, we both just like it and old lady names are the best.   Sometimes I call her Weezie.

I guess we can only get girl dogs in the future.

mightyenapup> i love the name idea, "glitch" that you posted!!! never thought of that one but i think it could be perfect for the right dog.

i love soda so i've thought of the name :
Sodapop (also if you've read s.e.hinton's "outsiders" you may have more appreciation for this one)
    i also like,
    cola
    pop
    snap

and in a more general sense, i really like the idea of giving a dog a name that sortof 'goes with' their breeds country of origin (if the breed is apparent!) for example japanese name for akitas, etc.

Whinny's name i just came up with in a second of revelation i guess. i was calling her by her old name "goldie" for the first week i had her then suddenly one day i said, we should call her "whinny" and i wanted it to be spelled like horse-whinny so thats' what it has been since!

My next PH is going to be a female and her name will be "Persephone" so I can make her call name "Funny Girl."   After that it'll be a Deerhound and I've no idea what I'll name her/him.

I totally agree about the "old lady names."
I apologize to any "old ladies" out there.
