How do I exercise him?

The pulling suggestion is good as well, but, be mindful that huskies start to overheat at temperatures above 50 degrees while pulling. But, like it was already said, he's a working dog and he needs some kind of "job."

Good point. Our walks in the summer are short. In winter, we can walk for a couple of miles. However, in the north, and even Alaska, plenty of teams keep in training year round. Shorter runs with plenty of breaks. Some keep working during the summer pulling tourists around.

Same here....I can't excercise my dog that much after 8:00 in the morning. He is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, so he get's so hot that we can't take him out on a walk for more than 30 minutes or he could have problems..... As a result, we take an hour walk at 7:00, although your dog probably needs a lot more excercise than that and we, like many other people make up that excercise in the winter....Another thing we do is have him play with other dogs.... Is your dog good with other dogs? If so, you could have him get together with a dog his size could make sure they were evenly matched, and they could have fun and get excercise, not to mention that the other person could "host" your dog.

Suggestions for working a dog in the heat: 1) get the dog physically fit before summer starts 2) shave the dog's belly. 3) Wet the dog down with cold water before starting. 4) take plenty of cooling breaks. 5) during cooling breaks you can rub ice on the shaven belly, offer cool water to drink/lie on, and re-wet the dog.

Somehow I thought that dogs could only "sweat" through their feet and by panting??  I've always gone on the theory that if I can cool their feet, it helps cool the rest of the body.

Another suggestion to cool off dogs in hot weather: wet their ears.  Ears contain alot of blood vessels in a huge amount of surface area.  The evaporative process helps them feel alot cooler.  This works the best with dogs that have erect ears that aren't too furry.  Dampen the inside and outside of the ear surface with a moist towel or just rub them with a moistened hand.  Don't pour water into the ear, or you could wind up with alot bigger of a problem.
