• jeano Posted : 6/11/2006 6:51:03 PM What do you mean, stink? Smell like a dog? That's normal. Dogs don't sweat and smell like people do. They don't have sweat glands except in their feet. After exercise YOU need a shower, but your dog doesn't. Be sure you aren't overheating your dog. It's very common in summer for dogs to suffer from heat stroke. They can die if they don't get cooled off, so be careful. I would not bathe more than once a month! She washes herself, most dogs do. I agree, brush out the dirt. If your dog lives in a dusty backyard and is always dirty, then you have to change the backyard, not wash the dog, just as a for instance. I have always had dogs who kept themselves clean. Sofia's sister is in this predicament, but I think my son will have a better yard for Athena at his new house. The only dog I washed was my cocker, because stuff stuck to her so bad, and because she kept getting in the shower with me. She gets in the shower with me every day, for a good rinse. Of course, Teenie rarely ever gets washed. It looks a lot like mine only mine is black around the eyes and his fur is very white. Anywho, He lives indoors with me, but, when I take him out, he looks to get dirty. I just finished playing with him outside, now he is chilling indoors.
