Dog(s) sleep with humans.

No doggies in the bed when humans (both) are in it at night. June and foster Mitzi sleep in crates in our bedroom. June runs around the house at night if she's not crated. Ginger and Zippy sleep on dog beds, and Bree sleeps either on a dog bed, or under OUR bed with her secret stash.

They *are* allowed on the bed at other times of the day, and if we are on it, upon invitation. They hang out on the bed with DH in the mornings while I take a shower, for example.

Personally, I wouldn't mind them on the bed at night, but five doggies plus DH= sweatfest for Laura, and possibly losing her spot in the bed.

When we first got Tonka, we decided he would sleep in our bedroom, but on his own bed, not ours.  That lasted about 6 months, and according to my husband (I swear I don't remember this), I was the one that let him up on the bed one night when he wasn't feeling well and he was looking pathetically up at us.

At 130+ pounds, things were pretty cozy when we had a queen-sized bed, but not much better with a king-size, since he always snuggled up as close as he could to one of us.  I eventually figured out to put a small pillow alongside myself so I wouldn't feel bruised in the morning.

As much as it probably interfered with my ability to get a sound night's sleep (I'm a very light sleeper), since he went to the Bridge, our bed feels huge and empty.  And it's definitely not as warm.  I miss him terribly all day long, but the nights are the worst.  We always said our favorite part of the day was when we were all snuggled in together, and Tonka would let out a huge, contented doggy sigh.

i wouldn't know what to do if Tootsie wasn't in bed with me. Lately she has been sleeping in a sort of half circle around my pillow or she lays lengthwise with her head on my pillow.

April has always slept with me and sleeps right next to my shoulder or I spoon her. [;)] she is such a little dear, she goes to bed at 8 and sleeps straight through until 6:30.

Julie, Max tends to hog more than his share of space, too.  I keep some very small treats in the bedside table, and when I need some space back I  reach in and get one.  Max's ears are very tuned to the sound of the drawer opening and he immediately moves up toward the head of the bed to get his treat.  As soon as he moves, I move and get comfy BEFORE he gets his treat.  Then he just has to find himself a different spot.[:D]

Boss started sleeping with me the night of his neuter. He didn't handle the anesthesia very well and was throwing up for 2 days afterwards so I wanted to have him near me in case he choked or something. Gracie started sleeping with me at 6 weeks old when I brought her home. They each have their spot they like to be.. Boss beside me and I usually wake up with him cuddled right up against my back. Gracie sleeps further down the bed right up against my leg. She wakes me up in the morning by laying across me to let me know she needs to go potty. I'd rather have her flop on me than pee in the house, so i guess I don't mind.

A couple of the cats will lay on the opposite side of the dogs after they know the dogs are sleeping. I have a queen size bed and with me and the 2 dogs and sometimes a few cats who all want to cuddle it can get pretty crowded, but I love it.
