Would you let your dog sleep outside at night?

I wouldn't let Blue sleep outside no matter what!

I agree with everyone else it's too soon to let that puppy stay outside overnight and I would try to find a way inside the house to make him comfortable in the house.

if it's too hot inside for a 3 month old puppy to sleep - how are you sleeping?
I would never be able to sleep for worry with a 3 month old pup sleeping outside.
    Fan or AC.

Definitely not. We have so many wild animals that visit our yard at night. Opossums, raccoons, cats, poisonous Bufo marinus toads.. etc. Also, what's to stop your dog from getting bored and digging out of the yard? Not to mention the possibility of someone stealing my dog! I'd be heartbroken!!

Sounds like a fan or two would help the situation out.

I agree that 3 months is too young to be out alone all night, but the pup won't always be 3 months old and a lot depends on exactly what sort of yard you have and what kind of neighbrhood you live in.  I recently intalled ceiling fans in the bedrooms and Max enjoys sleeping on the foot of our bed, which is directly under the fan.  Depending on your utility company, leaving central AC on 24/7 might be prohibitively expensive. I found an amazing fan in a catalog last summer and I've been looking, without much success, for 3 more of them.  It's made by Marvin & it's called the *whirlcool system*. That fan is so quiet, you really could put it in a bedroom and not hear a sound. I contacted the WBMarvin Co. & they told me to wait until we're well into June and then check places like Home Depot, Lowes & Ace Hardware. Max does sometimes go outside through his doggy door to sleep in the summer, but he just hops up on the lounge chair cushion and snoozes away.  He's not a barker, so I can let him outside at night. I'm a pretty light sleeper and get up a lot - whenever I do I peek out at him and he's always right there. [:)]

Sadie is a Bernese Mountain dog and has very thick heavy fur. Right now she sleeps in her crate in our room and we have the window open and the ceiling fan and a standing fan going. We do have a swamp cooler but its way on the other side of the house so it doesn't really reach our room very well. I don't mind the heat. I never have I can sleep with a blanket on during the summer. I just feel bad for her because I am a light sleeper and I can hear her panting all night. My biggest fear with leaving her outside is that somebody would steal her. We have a 6ft fence all the way around so there would be no way for her to get out unless she dug her way out of it somebody stole her. I am also scared of somebody poisoning her but its not like we live in a large city. I guess she will just have to stay inside since I can't come up with a better solution. I will look into the cooling pad for her to lay on.

Where can I find a cooling pad for her to lay on that I can put in her crate? I guess I should have got her the metal crate but I just spent $200 on this crate. I don't want to buy another.

Grwoing up almost all our dogs slept outside but we live on the coast. Check this out, you could put it in her crate under a towel accompanied by a fan!

I would never ever EVER let my dog or any dog in my care at any age or any time of year sleep outside... never.
    • Gold Top Dog
Even wild dogs don't sleep outside alone.  They are part of a pack.  So, unless you are cooperatively hunting, fending off coyotes, and sleeping under the stars together, bring the dog in. [;)]

My dogs are all large and adults with a very secure yard.
That said, would I let them sleep outside?  NO
    • Gold Top Dog
I would never, ever let my dogs sleep otuside by themselves. I have a fan in my room for myself and Tango for those hot summer nights and we do just fine.
    • Gold Top Dog
Uh, my dogs don't even go potty by themselves. Unless *I* was sleeping outside, they wouldn't.
