I know this is an old thread but I never did it so here's my list.

Top 10: Ones I have owned or will own one day. Lots of dogs I'd like but would never own.

    Irish Setter(obviously I have 2)

Landseer Newfoundland (fell in love with them at the dog shows and want one badly)

Dogue De Bordeaux (same as above plus the color is a plus!Stick out tongue)

Clumber Spaniel (something about them just catches my eye every time I see one)

French Bulldog (look at that face and them ears, how could you not want one?)

Australian Shepard (have had 2 and even though my second was a failure on my part I'd still like another one day)

English Setter (love the black and white ticked ones and the coat of course)

    Sheltie (like the merles)

Doberman Pinscher  (rust colored one of course)

Pit Bull (would have one now but JJ wants to wait till Samantha is older)

    Papillon

Pug! (that's right I like pugs! First small dog I have always wanted. When Im too old to handle big dogs I will have one)

As for breeds I have a few I would never seek out personality to own ever or ever again.

Pomerarian (grandma had one and she was a nasty little dog that I had to live with till I moved out)

    Chihuahua (yes I have one)

Poodle (have had several in the family that have gotten cancer. I couldnt handle that.)

    Hounds (dont like the noise!)

Shar-pei (sorry but I think their ugly)

GSD (they all seem to want to eat me and yes I will admit I want to run the opposite direction if I see one loose)

Great Dane (Im 4'9 and while I like my big dogs I think a Dane would be pushing it!)

     Cant think of 3 more.

My top ten favourite breeds are:

    (in no particular order)

    1.   Rottweiler

    2.  English Staffordshire Terrier

    3.  Bernese Mountain dog

    4.  Great Pyrenees

    5.  St. Bernard

    6.  Beagle

    7.  Whippet

    8.  Newfoundland

    9.  Mastiff

    10  Great Dane

My top ten least favourite breeds are:

.....there are actually a lot of dogs I don't like, based on looks alone mostly - well I shouldn't say don't like - I just won't seek out to own one, but I will happily pet and cuddle one if a friend has it.   I will say I don't like most small dogs (can you tell from my favourite list? haha).  Sorry, I just think most are not very attractive and I am more of a big dog girl.  I also don't like most terriers, with the exception of pitbulls, staffies, etc.  I also don't like english bulldogs.

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh wow has my list ever changed! I really don't remember having a list anything like this.  I think I've just discovered what my type of dog is more since then.

Top 10 favorites (first three in order):

    1) Papillon (surprise?)- gorgeous dogs with the absolute best personality out there
    2)Ibizan hounds

    5) Rottweiler
    6) Afghan hound
    7) Borzoi

    7) Pyrenean Shepherd

    8) Mudi

    9) Kooikerhondje

    10) English Shepherd

    • Gold Top Dog

My top 10 changes fairly often. Right now though, my favourites are (in no particular order)...

    1. Doberman Pinscher

    2. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

    3. Dalmatian

    4. English Shepherd

    5. Leonberger

    6. Belgian Shepherds (Groenendael & Tervuren)

    7. Kooikerhondje

    8. Border Collie

I can't think of anything for the last two. I don't really have a least favourite breed list...I like almost any dog as long as I don't have to live with it. Even on my favourites list, the top 3 or 4 are the only breeds I can see myself realistically owning someday, as much as I like the others.

    • Gold Top Dog

    I dont think I did this the first few times around...hard really to name favs;

    1. Rotties (have had 2, loved them will probably not have another, lost them both at a young age)

    2. Bernese Mtn Dog (have one that is such a baby, would love to have one some day at a younger age to train w/carting)

    3. Mutts (have had several...like the larger ones.)

    4. Newfie/Landseer (have my heart set on this one some day)

    5. Leonburger (never heard of them til meeting "Cleo" )

    6. Nova Scottia Duck Tolling Retriever ( never met one but they sound and look very nice)

7.LabX (dont know what Rocky's X is but he and our neighbor Duke bothare LabX)

8.Bassett Hound(Love them..have had 3 not the brightest but so loving)

    9. Pug (this is about the only small dog I really like, had one as a child)

    10. Most LGD's would be in my fav's.

Least favorite, hmmm I love most dogs but there are a few I would not want to own

    1. Poodle (had 2 aunt's with the meanest poodles when I was younger)

    2. Jack Russell ( a bit too hyper for me)

    3. Min Pin (only dog I was ever scared of as a child)

    4. Dashhound (I think they are adorable but I wouldnt be able to take the high pitched barking most  I've met bark all the time)

    5. Wire Haired anything (cousin had wire hair terrier much more grooming than I would care for)

I really like all dogs so I would be a softie if one of my least favs were in need of help :)

    • Gold Top Dog

Top 10 (in no particular order):
    - Schnauzers (all sizes)
    - Staffies
    - Dobes
    - Manchester Terriers
    - Greyhounds (regular and Italian)
    - Dogue de Bordeaux
    - Great Dane
    - Boxer
    - Kerry Blue Terrier
    - Pharoah Hound

    Least 10:
    - German Shepherd
    - Labrador Retriever
    - Border Collie
    - Poodle (any size)
    - Shih Tzu
    - Belgian Malinois
    - St. Bernard
    - Bulldog
    - Chihuahua
    - Yorkshire Terrier

I'll be honest....I enjoy a dog that is a challenge. I like a dog that asks "Why?". I look around at my agility crew, and I always say....."Man, that's too easy!!" I love dogs that have their own opinions, their own desires, and ones that, honestly, don't always match with what I want. I love doing those things that you hear "Can't be done with a ________ breed". It's why my most favorite dogs are almost entirely hounds and terriers, I think. For some reason I get so much more enjoyment out of them. Size isn't important to me....I have little dogs that are a lot of dog in a little body. I like a lot of dog, I like independence, I like creativity, and dogs that like to make their own choices. I have never like cookie cutter dogs or dogs that thrive on being told "what to do" all the time. That, in all honesty, would bore me. Big Smile

    • Bronze

Let me think. I don't really have a favorite, so by no particular order:

    1. American Pit Bull Terriers

    2. Vizsla

    3. Labrador

    4.Shar Pei

    5.Ibizan Hound

    6. Papillion

    7. Cocker Spaniel(working)

    8. Pointer

    9. Siberian Husky

    10. All the other breeds

Really, there isn't any that I dislike, but I would never own any of the large livestock/protection breeds. Too big for me!
