Amstaffy, Thank you so much for your interest!!! We are planning to have a dog wash and a raffle comming up this this summer probly next month. I am part of our local kennel club as well and getting hands together to do the wash. I think we are going to talk to one of the churches and see if the youth group would like to help out. Our rescue group is very small for our area so all the help is more than welcome.
GUESS WHAT EVERYONE!!!! FARLEY the rescue found a wonderful home and went home yesterday! They are also looking for a female to go alone with him so we are SO PLEASE ! they have owned minis for fourteen years and just lost their two best friends this past Dec. due to pacreatitis and the second followed from depression and old age. Very sad but it allowed Farley a beautiful home that will love him for the rest of his life.
Also update on the litter of pups we took in to bottle raise. Sadly we lost two of them but the other three are thriving and eyes are now open. They are fat and healthy and should be walking within the week. They should place quickly once they are sterilized, they are just adorable!
So thats all the updates I have so far, sorry I haven't posted in a while as the new home for Farley and the bottle babies have been keeping me pretty bussy lol!

What do your feed your minis as treats?  I'm sure you all agree that the breed "likes" food.  Our Spiffy gets so excited before meal time that she used to throw up. (She was very underweight when we got her a year ago, and we think there were times that she did not get regular meals). -If  I ever found the "owners", I can't tell you what I'd do to them...-
Anyway, the vet  suggested cutting back her food a little at mealtimes and now she gets some additional "treats" during the day so that there is always something in her stomach.  Usually, a portion of a mini dogbone treat or just  a piece of kibble or 2.  Peanut butter and kibble mini kongs or a buster cube are special treats when both my husband and I are going to be out of the house for for more than just a couple hours. - Maybe once a week .-  I'm happy to report, during the past year, she has gained the pounds to put her up to normal weight and is much calmer around mealtimes. Just wondered if there are other healthy things she might like. Liz.

My two boys sure love their food...any food.  Their treats throughout the day are usually pieces of veggies or anything else I have around.  They love bananas and apples.  At bedtime they get of few pieces of their kibble.  Skyler gets sick when his stomach gets too empty.  He literally does a tap dance while he's waiting for me to put down his bowl, it is really funny.  That's great that you got Spiffy up to her healthy weight.  How did Spiffy come into your lives?

Minimom,    We gave her a piece of banana and she really loved it. Will try some of the veggies also. Thanks for the suggestion.    In answer to your question, we got Spiffy from a woman we know who rescues dogs. She know we were looking for a miniature schnauzer, if possible, since we had taken care of one for friends and fell in love with the breed.
(Schnauzers were our first choice, but actually, we just wanted a smaller dog who was in need of lots of love and attention). Now, I must , we love the breed more than ever and all has worked out wonderfully.
I wish you could video the tap dance of Skyler's. I can just imagine....
