Canis Panthers are heavily muscled with a wide chest and jaw. Their ears are cropped and tail docked and the rear dew claws are removed. Their fur is short. Colors include Black, Chocolate, Fawn/Buckskin, Blue/Gray. Canis Panthers are solid in color

The Canis Panther is a very sensitive and loving animal to its family pack. They are very intelligent, easy to train and extremely loyal. They excel in obedience, agility and personal protection. They are very defensive minded, not trusting of strangers, making them an excellent pet protector

    wild eh?

Yes I've seen them.  I think they are beautiful dogs.  I would never own one.  This is not a dog that needed to be created.  The majority of the public has no need for a dog like this.  And even further, personal protection dogs already existed.  So to me this is just another designer breed-though it's designers had questionable ethics.

I agree with Xerxes.  There are already many breeds that have been around for a very long time which are protectors or guard dogs.
I had a Rottie and he was sweet but he would protect me if he felt I was threatened.
This would be another dog breed that would be used for the wrong reasons by bad people.  Being of a several breed combination..how do you really know what breed traits will come out in this mix.

i agree with you guys...look at the pic i said was too big to post here. how do you deal with something like that?
    • Gold Top Dog
Well, I don't think that the pic is showing anything different then what happens in protection sports with other breeds....

what do you mean protection sports?
i just mean the size of the dog? he's massive. and the size of the harness. i just can't imagine dealing with that....we looking at the same pic? this one

I think SillySally may mean schutzhund.

*SIGH*  The leather harness with all the chains...WTF?
    • Gold Top Dog
I'd say the harness is mostly for show.  All those chains really have no purpose besides making the dog look "meaner."  This GSD is doing the same thing...

And this Dobe, only he's under complete control off-lead

This breed would just need a handler that knew what he/she was doing.  Just like any other breed of the same type.  I personally think they're gorgeous dogs, though I doubt I'd ever have one just because of the crazy liability insurance companies would put on you.  :(  I hate it that breeds like this are targeted, although I understand why (ignorant owners that don't know how to train or control the dogs that they get).

looks like a black dogo argentine, doesn't it? guess they thought white dogs just weren't scary looking enough.

    No bigger or better than....

So why the need for yet another "protection" breed that people will get as a pet and have no skills for controlling?

Actually, this breed is not on insurance company lists to flag.  The only issue you might have is if it was a trained protection/guard dog--some insurance companies are not into that.....

I agree that the harness is just for show though.  I seriously doubt there are small horses that need that much equipment to hold them, much less a dog....

liesje, is that a german or a malinois or something else?
    • Gold Top Dog
German. Mals, IMO, are better and more suited to bitework than the majority of GSDs.

Regular ol' German Shepherd Dog. [:)]

    And I agree, belgmal_girl.
