    Saint Bernards and Collies

Anyone have or ever had a Saint Bernard or collie?
    • Silver
my saint is just about 6 months old now, and he is an absolute dream.  He is every good thing you've ever heard or seen about the breed, just a big gentle clumsy guy who loves everybody and has everybody fall immediately in love with him.  Amazing to watch him grow and while a little slower to learn that some of the smarter breeds, definetly picks up on training exceptionally well when a commited owner is making sure of it.  Just a beautiful dog.

I have Collies and have had them for 36 years.  I currently only have the smooth coat, but up until 1994, I had both rough and smooth.  In my mind, there is nothing quite like a good Collie. ;)

Collies are aweome. My collie (also named Malcolm- he's also a smooth, but Colliewog's Malcolm is a sable, I think? My Mal is a tri) is 6 months old in a few more days and he's absolutely a fantastic dog. He's my first smooth- my previous collie, Wings, was a sable rough- and she was also wonderful.

Malcolm is a grand Scottish name for a grand Scottish breed.  [;)]

    Smidgen - sable/white Smooth female, 3 yrs
Dora - tricolor Smooth female, 9 mos

Figment is darling - I love the blaze!

Here's a (old) photo of Mal from the end of October....

    Wow, Mal's getting hunky!

Uh, what happened to the OP??  Does he/she have either breed?
    • Gold Top Dog
Colliewog- no clue what happened to the OP. :P

And yes, Mal is VERY cute. If only I could get him to stack with the leash on. :P Oh well. We're getting ready to start showing fairly soon and looking forward to it. Also, ear taping is making me crazy. :P 1 ear is great. The other is being evil.

     TYGO- what's your saints name?
colliewog,Pwca,- love the photos. They are very impressive looking collies!
I have a Saint Bernard, and she's my first and is totally different from what she is suppose to be. I have owned two collies in my life-one a long haired sable male and a long hair white collie-he was the most handsome dog I think, he was all white but half his face was tri-color and the other white with a blue merle ear with black, and brown dots on his nose.Have you ever seen any of the Lassies or Lad?

I have had collies for 17 years lol and I'm only 21. We got our first collie when iwas 4 eyars old. I love the breed and will always own one. We have had other breeds and mutts but the collie has stolen me I currently have a rough collie 9tri color. Heis my baby and is now going on 4.

We had one the looked identical to Lassie when i was growing up. So offcourse I named her Lassie, she lvied for almost 14 years my best friend growing up, I still tear up becuase I miss her so much and it has been almost 5 years lol.

Wings was my 'Lassie' collie- just the whole personality thing. (Although if you say "Oh, a Lassie dog!" she would immediately start looking around, just in case she was about to get her ears cleaned.- we had a foster dog last summer who was named that that she was not very fond of- Lassie thought Wings ALWAYS needed her ears cleaned :P)

[align=center]Here's the last photo I have of Wings.

Tankstar-sorry for your loss I know how you feel. I grew up with a collie ,I was two when we got him. He was like my brother..we played and had fun times then we would be annoyed at each other. If he thought anyone was hurting me or my real brother(lol) then he would go into action. He lived to be 12 years old. I still thought for a long time that each day after he passed that I would wake up and there he was. It was so odd b/c he was always there.I took him for granted[:(]  His name was Duster Buster
Pwca-What a pretty collie! I wish I had one, I miss having a collie around.

We have a Saint who just turned a year old.  Hes such a big lug, lol.  You just have to love him to death, despite he now pushing-the-limits jumping routine, lol.

When I was six year old I got my first collie, a sable named Lucky Lady. I'm 57 now and have four roughs: Billie, a female tricolor; Sarah, a female hidden blue merle (looks like a tri from a distance); Tristan, a male sable; and Lucas, a male regular blue merle. I can't figure out how to put pictures on here but Sarah's picture & story are at [linkhttp://www.crlne.org]www.crlne.org[/link], click on "Success Stories."
