I haven't had a lot of dogs because I'm still very young and still have my first two dogs:

    Sugar-6 yr. old Sheltie Mix
    Bandit-1 yr. old English Shepherd

Not a long list but I love them both to death!
this was a fun topic to read...
    as a child=hero, black lab
as a teen=my dad had buffy, spitz mix
after i married, we didn't have the greatest luck with dogs, we had 2 lab/hound mix puppies someone dropped that died of parvo.
we adopted a gsd from the pound that disappeared the night we got her (hoping she was just trying to get back home?)
after we moved to our house, we got spock=siberian husky.  he was a great and funny dog, very independent
a few years later we got queenie=yellow lab (met with tragic end)
fastforward 9 yrs...we adopted an old blind dog this summer, dewey=coonhound, who died from his heartworm tx[:(]
2 WEEKS after he died, we found 7 pups someone had dumped in the middle of nowhere[:@]
we found homes for 5 and kept our present 2, ruby and snoopy.  we believe they have different sires.  ruby=lab/setter mix
    snoopy=lab/bc mix[:)]

When I was a kid we had a mutt, whom I believe was shepard/chow mix.  Very loyal...to me....and that was about it.  He was my dog through and through.

Outside of that I lived with my Mom's shih tzu for 10 years....she's now 12 as of last wednesday.  Still a spunky little devil!

Soon to be future owners *figures crossed* of a FCR
    • Gold Top Dog
Most of the dogs I grew up with where herding dogs and mixes. We had a few ACDs- mostly red heelers and a GSD who was a very loyal family dog but died too young due to heatworm[:(] I still like the herding dogs above any other group and for my future dogs I would like to own herding dogs as well.

Growing up, we had several dogs. Only one of which was mine.
    •     Pit Bull/Chow mix (Buster) - we had him when I was a little bitty thing. My dad says that he wouldn't let anyone get near me if he didn't think that they should.
    • Yellow Lab (Major)
    • Heinz 57 (Max) - this dog lived to be somewhere around 15-16 years old. We got him when I was three, so he was almost as old as me. I grew up with him.
    • Rottweiler (Roxie)
    • Golden Retriever (Cowboy) - He was mine. He died at 5 years old. He had a thyroid problem that couldn't be regulated and he got way too heavy. He also had HD. He was a mill puppy, (shocking, huh?)
I've had two that have been mine since I've been on my own.
    • GSD/Irish Setter (Luke) - Had a birth defect that eventually caused him to not be able to eat/keep food down.
    • Golden Retriever (Max) - This is the one that's in my sig. I got him from a breed rescue and he's absolutely wonderful. I can't say enough good things about him.

In my life, my family had a Cocker (Cricket), then a Cocker (Peppy). Then we diverged and got a German Shepherd/? (my beloved Stormy).  Then after she had lived her life, we got a Cocker (Sassafras). Then a Cocker (Ruffles, the best, smartest, funniest ever). Then I got my first Shiloh Shepherd (Shiloh) and when she died, I got another. - my sweet Akaya. In one week, I will have a new little Cocker Spaniel again. What can I say? I love Cockers and Shepherds.

But if I could have many, many dogs, I'd have all kinds of breeds. Leonberger, PBGV, Gordon Setter, Papillon, Malamute, and more.
