My parents got Terra before I was born - she was a doberman.  (sweetest dog)   She was pts when I was 9.
They got Corrie (german shep mix) when I was 11 and she's still kicking (She's 14ish now).
And now I have Bailey (german shep mix).   I think Corrie definately influenced my decision to adopt a german shep mix.  I was at the right age at the time to help with her training and take care of her.   Spend a lot of time together during my early teen years.

*My first dog was a golden retriever x german shepherd puppy when I was 5 she was rehomed about 6 years later by my dad.
*Second dog was Zoe a Cocker spanial x ? I got her when she was about a 1-2 years old she is now 8 years old.
*My next dog was named Angel she was white with apricot ears she was a petstore (I know) "toy" poodle who was actually 15 pounds so not exactly toy. lol She got hit by a car when she was only  2 years old my mom was heart broken because that was her dog.
*Two months after Angel died we adopted Gracie a Jack russel x lab from the pound.
*Then we rescued Maggie the boston terrier from a family member who no longer wanted her
*Lastly is Lucy who's mom was a Basset hound x lab and her father was a german shepherd x chow. She is now 8 months old.

As a child (way back when) we had a Boston Terrier, then a German Shepherd, both placed in new homes because my mother was NOT a dog person. Later a Pom/Chi mix that we had for 15 years, and in her later years, a red Doberman Pinscher that also died in her teens, 14 I think. As an adult I've had Dobermans, Australian Cattle Dogs, Gordon Setters, Smooth Fox Terriers, a Pug, a German Shepherd, and currently Border Collies. In the past I did a lot of showing, so I often had 4 or more dogs at a time. The Gordon Setters were both given to me in hopes I would show them. They both became champions, were well loved house pets and died in their teens of cancer. The Smooth Fox Terriers were also given to me, and also both became show champions. They had a litter of 4, also all to become champions. A friend fell in love with them and I gave them to her, where they lived to the end of their lives. The friend showed them in obedience and they were her babies, spoiled rotten. The Dobermans were our darlings in the late 70's, showing in conformation and obedience, but we lost 3 in one year to heart failure, all under the age of 7. The Australian Cattle Dogs came in the 80's, helping with the dairy herd, being shown in obedience and breed. Most died in their teens, the last in 1999 at age 13. Border Collies are in my life now because my new husband does not care for "heelers". He was a Belgian fan until we settled on the Border Collie, and now we're both hooked! We have 5, the oldest is 11 and she is the one that got me addicted to sheep dog trials. The youngest is just a year and is hopefully going to be a trial dog as well. All live in the house! My poor mother wonders how she ended up with a dog nut for a daughter. My folks are now in love with a little Chihuahua, and you would never know that my mom used to not let dogs in the house!

We owned a German Shepherd when I was a baby to when I was four I believe. We had to put her down due to spinal problems. Then we owned some type of Shepherd mix. I don't really remember him/her.

My dad always had a Brittany for hunting (and still has one). There were 3 of those.
We had a Brittany/Lab mix from the pound that my sister took when she moved out.
We had a husky for about 7 years, and then he escaped and we never found him [:(].
I had a lab mix puppy that I got from someone that was going to dump him. I only kept him for a couple months until I could find him a home.

After moving out, I had a husky/malamute mix.  She was my absolute favorite dog. I adopted her at age 6, but, unfortunately, I didn't know she had severe separation anxiety because I had roommates at the first 2 houses I lived in with her. When I moved out to where I live now, she apparently howled all day, tore up the carpeting, etc. My landlord kicked her out. She's with my dad's best friends now, where the mother is home all day with a baby. Cassidy (the dog) loves the baby, and they have had her since July and are very happy with her. If they ever can't keep her, I will take her back. It was a very sad situation for me, but I tried everything I could from March-July and nothing was working.

Currently, I have a Miniature Pinscher puppy.

My first dog was a wash out from the police academy-(he was considered too small by the Chicago Police who didn't decide that until he was fully trained and ready to go)  We had him from the time I was a baby-great protection for Mom and me when Dad had to travel for business.  Then came the Standard Poodle, which was a gift from my uncle who had a male and thought that we could breed and sell puppies.  We didn't really enjoy the poodle experience, but it might have had alot to do with the dog not being well bred for temperment.  After the poodle came an almost 18 year relationship with a Beagle, who graciously let us reside in his home...He was a total character.  I had a female britttany, but while she was a super dog, I didn't enjoy her severe hesitation around strangers.  She was great with family, but had to be crated when company came...She was extremely territorial, and very skittish-all attempts to socialize her ran the risk of her injuring herself or others.  We had the most super English Springer Spaniel for almost 17 years and he got along great with the Brittany-surprise!  He was also a phenomenal agility dog, which is quite unique, because he was blind from birth.  We had an Akita, another German Shepherd, a doberman....Many of our dogs are adoptees from no kill shelters.  And currently, we are home to an Irish Wolfhound, A german shepherd and a Treeing Walker coonhound.   The IW is our second-and the verdict is still out.  Our first IW was female and everyone told us that the males are easier...this time we have a male, and I am not at all sure about the easier part.....
