    Greyhound... anyone else have one??

    Hi,

This is our Greyhound, Daisy. She's 4 years old. We ALSO have a Sheltie, named Molly.

Does anyone else have a Greyhound? I'd LOVE to hear about it. (Sheltie's, too!!!)

    Here is Daisy...

    and here is Molly...

I don't own a greyhound, just wanted to comment that I love the breed!  I used to groom a woman's greyhounds that she adopted from a greyhound rescue.  Such sweet dogs.  Your sheltie is a doll as well!

Though I don't have a grey, I do have a pharaoh hound.  Both sighthounds, but worlds apart in demeanor and temperment.  And of course both of them are extremely fast.  I can say that I love the greys alot, as I do all sighthounds.  They are so sweet and gentle.  Until they see a rabbit or a squirrel.[:)]

    Hi Lisa,
    I am a fellow grey owner   [:D]

I am not sure but I think I might currently be one of the only ones on i-dog. There is one member who is getting one in a week or two and another that I know of that has a greyhound mix (Buster is a cutie pie!).  I also am in LOVE with Xerxes the Pharoah hound!  There are multiple owners with beautiful Shelties though. [:D]

I tried to open your pics of Molly and Daisy but they wouldn't open.  [:@]

I currently have 2 greys, a 7 year old black male named Jimmy James (JJ) and a sweet 2 1/2 year old female named Prudence. I have owned greys before, but after losing both of ours a couple years ago in  a short time span, DH couldn't deal with losing another dog anytime soon so we decided to wait a bit. 2 years have now passed and our work travel schedules have settled down so it was time to get some greys again! I didn't plan on getting any for a few more months, but I started volunteering at a greyhound rescue again, and wouldn't you know. . . within a month we already had one and now 3 months later we just brought home Prudence 2 weeks ago.  [:)]
Both JJ and Prudence are special needs dogs that were pretty much unadoptable and so I had to bring them home![:D]

Below are pics of my pups. I would love for you to try to attach your pics again and see if they will work. Since the photobucket link won't work, maybe shrink the pic down in size and attach it???

    Welcome to idog!

Hi. I am the member that was getting one in a week. I got him this Saturday. So yesterday. I haven't had him very long as you can see. But so far he's great! He's a 3 year old fawn named Ramses.

JJsmom, I just now realized that Ramses and Prudence could be twins as far as their faces go. Ramses has the same pattern on his nose and the same stripe between his eyes. I am going to put some pictures on my old flickr page. These are some pictures I snapped just a couple minutes ago, so they're not great. Ramses had just woke up and was wondering what I was up to.

Another member here!  Ive got one greyhound of my own and currently fostering another.  IMO the best dogs in the world, so very gentle and loving.  My own perfect angle is 8 years old brindle, Willow.  My current foster is only 3 years old and a bit of a nutter compared to most greyhounds, think thats what comes from living with lurchers as well, they lead her astray.  (shhh Im also considering failing with this one).

Ive fostered a few greyhounds and lurchers and also have a lurcher of my own, a long dog (borzoi/saluki) and 2 whippet/terriers.

Christina. .  .omg . . Ramses is beautiful. Gosh I just love him and you are so right about he and Prudences faces. I love her white stripe and his looks just the same.  [:D]From what you told me before about him (and I still have to read my pm's from you) .  .I think he is a fantastic choice. Thanks so much for the pictures. I can't wait for more!

Willowmum- SO happy to see another grey owner! While greys are canines, they are so different than most breeds, it is unbelievable the difference at times and no one else except a fellow grey owner can truly understand!

Do you have pictures of Willow and the foster? Does the foster have a name or are you avoiding naming because you might get too attached? Fostering is tough and DH told me he would never allow me to do it because there is no way he could give them up even after a couple of days!

Willowmum- Hmmm. ... I am not very good with the picture thing but I usually do it one of 2 ways :

    1) download the photos I have saved onto my computer onto photobucket.com then you can "edit" the pictures to make them a reduced size so that they aren't too big to attach on these posts. Then you would click the "postcard" icon when you post a reply and it asks for the URL. I copy and paste the URL address from the pic I want on the photobucket wesite and then it downloads it onto the text of the reply.

    2) If the pic you have is a small enough file size, then you can add a pic to a post by clicking "click here to upload" and then it attaches it OR you can check the box next to it that says "embed picture in post" and it will add the pic below your reply.

You can also do like greymars did above and attach your photobucket site with all the doggie pics.
I have known some very sweeet greys named "Amy"[:)]  Both were black. What color is your Amy??

Willowmum- I love the grey on willows face! I just love them when they get older and grey. . .so sweet!  I think I have that toy. . .is it a  porcupine??

Amy looks like she has beautiful eyes. . .are they lighter in color or is it just the light? What are the white spots on her coat?

I love greyhounds...I could look at pictures of them all day!  Thanks for sharing!

hey we have four dogs, a pit, dachshund mix and 2 pugs and if the house wasn't full i would take in a greyhound, but it is. I have researched them and found what great dogs they are but unfortunatley we have hit are limits in our house and in the township. What i really wanted to know is anyone going to the Reach The Beach greyhound Feast. I not cause i dont have one but ive read about it and its grown emminsly with thousands going. Any way just wondering if any of the greyhound owners are going. its in Delaware

Turtle- I will not be going since I live in Southern CA but I have heard some things about it before (and I thinkI saw info on it on greytalk.com). Sounds like a fun event!
Some cities have greyhound walking groups that take organized walks with their pups, you should check it out to see if there is one in your area because they often times will let "non-greyhounds" go too. It is a great way to be around greys and also many times there are enough dogs there that folks will let you walk theirs if you don't have a grey of your own. The group I walk with also has a German Shepard and a pit that are both regular walkers.

Maybe the reach the beach event will let non-greys come too???
