Most intimidating (as in looks)? I find that to be based more on the individual dog than the breed.

Terrier? I consider my sister's yorkie a terrier, so that would be it.  I know they aren't officially, but the AKC has obviously never met Maddie.
Hound? I love the looks of the sight hounds - just plain gorgeous.  I also like rhodesian ridgebacks.
