how come bernese...

The saying with Berners is this (i believe i am saying this correctly)
"3 years a young dog, 3 years a family dog, 3 years an old dog The rest is a gift from above".
I think i'm saying that correctly, I read it on a berner breeders website and thought it was perfect. Someone might know it exactly. Bernese also have hip probelms, ours was diagosed at 10mths :(
They are beautiful dogs, and want to be with their owners at all times, love kids, and just loved to be loved. We know of 4 Berners in our area(milwaukee, wi) 2 of which are rescues from barcinc.net and 1 was a puppy store rescue-he is the reason we fell in love with the breed and the other is Nelson's brother Porter. It's amazing how when we go out we get asked what he is. I love when people ask though because the more people who know about this terriffic breed is great. Ours came from a breeder who I'm not sure knew much about breeding. The day I called and let her know about Nelson's hips, she pretty much acted like I was lying, she never called to check up on him or anything. Now if I was a breeder I would call and check up on my puppies espeically if someone had called to tell me that one of my puppies had hip dsplaysia(spelt wrong). I could go on and on.......

Cairn terriers- A guy that I work with has 2 cairns. he loves them.

Kobi gets mistaken for a Bern all the time! There are actually 4 Berns in our neighborhood. Beautiful dogs!

Denise, Kobi is just BEAUTIFUL!  That picture is so classically Aussie, with the expression in his face and stance.

Mine are both Aussie mixes, I couldn't afford to buy a purebred from a breeder, but I tried to find mixes that looked as close to purebreds as I could find and adopted them both from shelters.  My dark blue merle, Tucker, is an Aussie/BC mix and he's looking more and more BC as he grows.  Which is fine, because I love BC's too!  My light blue merle, Krystal, is still only 10 weeks old but she looks more purebred to me.  I was told she's a mix, but they were very vague as to what she's mixed with, and I have my doubts that she is a mix, but we'll see as she grows up!

Thanks CrazyAussies. When I first got Kobi there were very few Aussies around. I am glad to see more people interested in the breed as they are quite unique in the personality department. It is hard to explain to people who haven't had the pleasure of owning one. Your guys are adorable! There is nothing cuter than an Aussie puppy IMO!
