    Bubba

I took Bubba, the very little talked about kitty, to see Dr. S. yesterday on a gut feeling that he just wasn't feeling well.  You know that mama's gut feeling?  He just wasn't my Bubba.  On initial exam he should have been okay.  Everything seemed the same as last appointment 3 months ago.  We've been treating his bad kidneys for years.  We're on a 3 month blood test schedule to keep an eye on his levels.  My gut was right.  His kidney failure is progressing.  He's more anemic, is peeing out protein & a whole host of other things that Dr. S. discovered by his bloodwork & urinalysis.

Bubba is a stray that I was going to foster 9.5 years ago when we first moved into this house.  He was so handsome & so good with the present animal configuration that he stayed.  He has been a wonderful friend & sweet boy.  We need some good vibes for him & vibes for wisedom for me.  Please don't let me make him live longer than is comfortable for him.

We're sending good vibes for Bubba.

Annie, I KNOW that you will make the best decision for your boy.

any chance you can get him to a TCVM vet for acupuncture and herbs?  Cats respond even better than dogs and it can be SO helpful.

Trust me -- I understand so much -- I swore after we lost Muffin the Intrepid to renal failure that I'd never miss that again.  I'm glad you caught the "mom gut feeling".

I'm so sorry Annie - we are sending our best wisdom vibes but I know you will do the right thing at the right time.  Bubba you just relax in a sunny spot and be peaceful.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bubba.  Sending strong, peaceful vibes to both of you at this sad and difficult time.  The progression of an illness might give us some time to "prepare," but it can never be easy to know when it's time to make certain decisions.  Take care, and gentle pats for Bubba.

Bubba & I want to thank everyone for their good vibes.  I think they're working for him a little.  He still looks like a bum but he's got a little more perk in his step.  When we went to see Dr. S to learn how to do the sub-q fluids we had time to talk.  I asked him to please let me know when he wasn't having fun any more.  I'm pretty sure he said he would.

So far he's being a trooper & taking his fluids like a big boy.  He's purring again & is giving head butts too.  Those are 2 of my red flags for him.  I think I'm going to give him a new nickname....Quasimodo. :)

Thanks again for the good vibes.

Annie, I'm so glad to hear he's feeling better.  :)  Sending vibes for continued head butts and purring.

I'm so glad he's feeling better. We lost our cat Ralph to kidney failure when he was 18, but the sub-q fluids gave him almost 2 more good years than he would have had.

LOL; first Ralph would have a lump on his shoulders, then the fluids would drain to his armpit. Sending Bubba healing vibes.

Me too Annie, I'm so glad that Bubba is back to purring and head butting.  Yep...that's the gage around here as well.  No purrs or butting means kitties don't feel well.

Annie, your animals are all blessed to have you for a mom.  Don't worry, you know just what to do.  Feel better, Bubba.  Sleep

I hope Bubba is continually feeling better; good thoughts for both of you!

So delighted Bubba is feeling sociable and clearly better, Annie!  Warm thoughts from me for that to continue!
