My bunny passed away (BlackLabbie)

My mini Rex, named Skip, died today. I have no idea why....he's an indoor rabbit, always had fresh food, water, alfalfa hay and a fresh veggie or fruit. Always had a clean cage (it was cleaned every week, sometimes 2x). He was eating and drinking normally, and looked healthy. This morning I gave him fresh food and water and a handful of alfalfa and petted him...everything was fine. I came home from work around 2:00pm and he had passed away....The dogs didn't do anything to him (they mainly ignored him anyway), he was in his cage on a table. We're not sure how old he was (I got him as an adult).

I feel so sad for my little boy.

Please, say a prayer for Skip.

Its always heart breaking when you lose a pet.
Assuming Skip was an older bunnie, (I don't know how long bunnies live) I am sure he had a really good life once he came to you.

Thank you all so much. I just don't know what happend...it just shocked me, really.

I hope he finds a nice grassy spot at the Bridge, too.

Sorry about your bun! I hate to bring this up because it's not nice but if you have other buns you should think about a necropsy. Even if no other buns a look by a vet could be really helpful, just to make sure it wasn't something contagious and to set your mind at ease. It's not an easy thing to do but when my favorite rat died I *had* to know and I'm glad.

I'm so sorry about Skip. He sounds like he was a wonderful bun, and he's adorable in his picture. I know he'll have found a wonderful spot over the Rainbow Bridge, perhaps in a patch of dandelions. Hop free, Skip.

I'm very late seeing this. I'm very sorry to hear about your sweet bunny. It would be a heartbreak to lose him no matter what, but to have it be so unexpected must be awful. I've never had a bunny, but at our old house, I used to feed our neighbor's bunny when they were on vacation. He was so adorable, and I couldn't get enough of petting his incredibly soft fur. They're such gentle pets.

I'm sure Skip has found a wonderful garden that will provide him with delicious snacks that he can share with his furry friends at the Bridge. I'm sorry for your loss. Broken Heart
